Infrastructure

Peru's Minister of Transport and Communications Jose Gallardo Ku said the Lima Metro Line 2 construction will begin in May and will include 27 stations to benefit users of ten districts along the capital city.

The Lima's Metro Line 3 will be built underground, as will the Line 2 because it will go through areas, where the maximum demand is located, the Minister of Transport and Communications Jose Gallardo said.

"Lima's Line 3 has to be underground because the success of a train is to go through areas where the maximum demand is located," he told.

If a metro system designed for Lima goes through the areas that concentrate the highest demand, as it is projected, it should to be underground.
Line 3 will be in higher demand than the previous ones, since it is expected to transport around 2 million passengers daily.

Arequipa region exporters will be able to increase their shipments to Brazil directly through the Interoceanic Highway and, therefore, take greater advantage of this corridor, said Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Magali Silva.
