Am�rica Econom�a found that in 2014 more visitors traveled to Lima than any other Latin American city, according to Per�21.

About 5.1 million international visitors arrived in Lima in 2014, making it the most visited Latin American city.

Just two years before, 2.07 million tourists found their way to Lima, representing a 3 million increase in 2014, according to the business magazine's data. Am�rica Econom�a published on their website, their Chart of the Day where Lima makes the top of the list and way ahead of the game.

Today, only 25 days after his appointment, Pedro Cateriano, president of the Council of Ministers, speaks before Congress to request a vote of confidence.
 

Regional exports, except those sent from Lima and Callao, amounted US$3.356 billion in the first two-month period of the year. 
From the amount US$2.412 billion were earned thanks to traditional-export shipments, Peru's Exporters Association (ADEX) informed.
 



Peru will be one of the few Latin American countries to register a "higher economic-growth rate" than the one reached in 2014, Peru's Finance Minister Alonso Segura affirmed.

The renewable energy developer Cobra Energia received $254 million in loans from a group of financing companies led by Natixis SA for two wind projects in southwest Peru.

Other lenders that participated in the financing include Export-Import Bank of the U.S., the French Development Agency, the German Investment Corp., and the Netherlands Development Finance Co., according to an e-mailed statement Friday from Natixis.

Agriculture



Peru is close to becoming the first grape supplier to the Chinese markets, the Peruvian Chinese Chamber of Commerce announced. 
The projection was based on information regarding shipments made throughout 2014.
According to the Capechi Business Research Unit, Miguel Galvez, last year exports totaled US$175.4 million (8.6 million boxes).
 



Peru's Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation has planned to invest S/.1.2 billion (around US$383 million) to develop irrigation projects in some regions throughout 2015.

Alvaro Quine, Executive director of productive development program "Agro Rural," explained Agro Rural has planned to develop 120 irrigation projects. To date, 100 of those are under execution.
 




Culture



Peru has broken a Guinness Record for the world's biggest cajon performance, after 3,600 people played the Afro-Peruvian musical instrument at Lima's main square on Saturday.

Gastronomy



In 2006, the country's Export and Tourism Promotion Board launched a campaign called "Peru Mucho Gusto" - a play on words that can mean "Peru, nice to meet you" and "Peru, full of flavor." The campaign has funded cookbooks, staged high-profile food festivals at home and abroad, and recognized exemplary Peruvian restaurants around the world.

And in 2011, the Organization of American States officially designated Peruvian food as part of the "cultural heritage of the Americas. Now the government is lobbying to win similar recognition from UNESCO as well. (Story shared by Julio Valeriano).

The already impressive Moche Route, a tourist circuit that runs along major archaeological sites in northwestern Peru, has plans to expand, extending to the Calipuy National Reserve and Sanctuary. According to the National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (Sernanp), the addition would be made in hopes to improve tourism in La Libertad and the region's natural areas.

Peruvian soccer star Claudio Pizarro is the foreign athlete, who has won most soccer tournaments while playing for a German team. 
This weekend, Pizarro managed to claim his 18th Cup because his team the F.C. Bayern Muenchen has become the Champion of the 2014-2015 Bundesliga season. 



Long-distance runner Rocio Cantara has honored Peru by winning the South American Half Marathon Championship held in Montevideo (Uruguay) where she obtained the first place.
Miscellaneous



Peruvian mountain climber Victor Rimac was uninjured Saturday when a massive 7.9-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, where more than 1,000 have been reported dead so far.

 "We are not out of touch with nature here at the base camp of Mt. Everest. Avalanches have destroyed a large portion of our camp. Hopefully I'm fine, like my friend Holmes Pantoja and the whole team," he said. 

 



Fishermen working in north-western Peru have discovered a huge manta ray, which local media has said weighs just over a tonne.
