Today at the Washington DC headquarters of the International Monetary Fund, Peruvian Minister of Economy and Finance Alonso Segura officially announced that the Annual Meeting of the World Bank will take place in Lima, Peru this October. Average citizens and entrepreneurs should be confident because our country's economy will grow by 4% this year despite the fact that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) reduced the growth estimation for Latin America, Peru's Minister of Economy and Finances, Alonso Segura affirmed.

Throughout the latest 15 years, Peru's economic development has been "outstanding," since relevant economic growth rates were achieved, the President of the World Bank (WB) Jim Yong Kim said.

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) confirmed Peruvian economy has expanded by 0.94% in February 2015, accumulating 67 consecutive months of growth.
In the current year, GDP's accumulated growth rate has reached 1.3%. In the last twelve month growth was up by 1.81%.
"February's growth has been driven by the domestic demand [...]," said the head of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics, Alejandro Vilchez.
Additionally, he indicated the commerce sector grew by 3.35% in February, if compared to the same period last year. Retail sales expanded by 4.8% driven by the increase in the commercialization of pharmaceutical products, food and hardware articles.
According to INEI, the wholesale sales rose by 3.5% due to the acquisition of garment, computers, food and drinks.

The Peruvian government has given Grupo Mexico controlledSouthern Copper the green light to expand the Toquepala mine, in Peru, at a cost of US$1.2 billion. The mine's copper concentrator in the southern region of Tacna, will have to double its processing capacity from 60,000 to 120,000 tonnes/day. Mining is vital to the economy of Peru, the world's third largest producer of copper and zinc, accounting for some 60 percent of its total exports.

 BPZ Energy has failed to prove oil with its latest well on the Corvina field in block Z-1 offshore Peru. The company is reassessing its geologic model to analyze the impact of well tests on this part of the field. However, the CX15-9D well did intersect around 35 ft (11 m) of net gas pay in the upper Zoiros non-associated gas reservoir, where the 16X, 14D, and 21XD wells previously tested gas at rates of 20-40 MMcf/d.

After the Minister of Culture expressed indifference to the erasing of murals, the Ministry seeks to correct criticism.
Today, April 16, the Ministry of Culture announces the contest, "A diverse Peru in an interconnected world," inviting artists from all over the country to submit their ideas. One winner's idea will be chosen to be placed on an outer wall of the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OEI), in Lince.

The Ministry of Culture has managed to capture aerial photographs of Chan Chan archaeological site located in La Libertad region.The picture was made possible thanks to an unmanned aircraft, which flew over the site. This has enabled to catch a complete glimpse of the area.
The photographs will enable to be prepared to mitigate the effects, which may be caused by El Ni�o climate phenomenon this year.

This week Peruvian films are breaking records and winning awards. From Asu Mare 2 ranking among world-wide hits such as "Fast and Furious 7" all the way to a film festival in France. The Peruvian film, "Viaje a Tombuct�" (Journey to Timbuktu), won the award for best feature film in the Festival of Peruvian Film in Paris, according to LaMula.pe.

The 2016 edition of the Dakar Rally will kick off from Lima, Peru, organisers announced on Thursday. The Dakar organisers revealed the outline of the route for the 2016 event in Paris, which will not have any stages in Chile as the country has been affected by flooding. As a result, a new route from Peru to Argentina will be used.

 THE US Secret Service has seized a huge haul of fake money as part of a joint operation with Peruvian authorities.
The agency intercepted $1.5million worth of notes and arrested four suspects, as a result of the sting. Initially created in 1865 to combat the problem of counterfeit currency, the Secret Service posted a photo of the huge haul on to Twitter.
