Economy & Trade
Peru's economy is starting to show an upward trend leading to a 4.2% GDP growth rate this year and an over 5% expansion in 2016 and 2017, Minister of Finance Alonso Segura affirmed.
Finance Minister Alonso Segura indicated the Peruvian government is currently making a strong bet on the "sustained growth".
It contrasts with actions taken by other Latin American countries' governments, which have cut sharply public investments and raised taxes, he reminded.
The construction sector will grow above 8% in 2015.
This will consolidate as one of the main sources of employment in the country.
It will also "recover its position" among the most important sectors driving Peru's economy.
"There is consensus in Peru to get out of underdevelopment, beat poverty and continue on the growth path through political, social and economic policies," affirmed the Director of Peru's Central Reserve Bank, Gustavo Yamada.
According to Yamada, "we are" at the moment when the long-term policies are respected, such as the improvement in education and the creation of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis).

Gastronomy

On a recent trip to Singapore, I saw several Peruvian chefs make ceviche in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. The chefs mixed raw lobster, sea urchin roe, oysters, fish and squid with pre-made flavourings such as leche de tigre (lime juice, garlic, onion and chillies) and/or finely minced salsas, added crunchy elements such as cancha (toasted corn) or thinly sliced shallots, and then served the dish immediately. The seafood resembled sashimi and the flavours were fresh and vibrant.

Tourism

The festivals that fill Cusco's cultural calendar honor a unique blend of Andean and Catholic traditions. Every June 24th, the city stages Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun, and thousands of Peruvians and visitors take to the city streets for dancing, music, and colorful cultural reenactments.
Archaeology

Resembling the cave paintings of nearby Toquepala, it is estimated the two are similar in time range (7000 B.C.)

Culture

Puruchuco, an ancient Incan complex, sits at the fast-moving edge of Lima's real estate boom, forcing authorities in the Peruvian capital to get creative as they seek to preserve the archeological treasure.
At first glance, the site looks like an empty hill on the city's east side -- a bald spot surrounded by a slum, a new university and a shopping mall scheduled to open soon.
But then, a low structure becomes visible -- Puruchuco, an Incan palace with a 16th-century burial ground, and untold numbers of priceless artifacts buried within.

Medical scans of mummified remains in a touring exhibit at an Ohio museum exhibit are those of a girl who lived more than 500 years ago in Peru.

The Cincinnati Museum Center recently reported the results of a collaborative effort with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center to learn more about the remains.
