Gastronomy

Minka, with over 1,000 shops (more than 300 in the fresh market section alone), proudly bears the title of Lima's only "commercial city."

In many ways, Minka is just like your neighborhood market where you can grab an empanada, milk, bread, toilet paper, broom, clothes, and a hot emoliente drink all in one spot.

However, this 15-year-old emporium twists everything you thought you knew about Peruvian markets and commercial spaces.

Alberto Roque was mayor of Mara, a small Andean town near the proposed $7 billion Las Bambas copper project.

Antolin Chipani, the mayor of nearby town Challhuahuacho, said Roque had been busy negotiating with the central government to broaden education and job opportunities to towns around MMG Ltd's $7 billion proposed Las Bambas project.
Prime Minister Ana Jara said "radical groups" might have targeted Roque to silence moderates working with her cabinet.
