Peru's economic growth recovery will start on the second quarter of 2015, and it will register the "largest" expansion in Latin America this current year, forecasted the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Resident Representative for Peru and Paraguay, Alejandro Santos. 

Economy & Trade


Peru is ranked 8th in the list of fastest-growing economies, according to a Bloomberg survey of outstanding economists.

The South American nation is expected to expand by 4.3% in 2015.
This rate is higher than the one estimated by the International Monetary Fund: 4%. 


Exports via the interoceanic highway amounted US$7.8 million in the period between 2013 and 2014, representing a 236% growth, informed Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva.
 



The measures adopted by the Central Reserve Bank will allow Peru to inject S/.572 million (about US$184 million) into its financial system, accumulating a total of S/.12.7 billion since June 2013, when domestic currency reserves started to fall.
 

Investment


The execution of large projects awarded in the past few years will bring a greater dynamism to the private investment in 2015 and 2016, said Carlos Herrera, chief executive officer at Peru's Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion). 

Education



Peru's Education Minister, Jaime Saavedra, highlighted the improvement in reading comprehension and mathematics achieved by students from all regions of the country and considered this achievement shows the government is "on the right track" to provide quality education.


School students across the country increased their Reading Comprehension and Mathematics scores, posting the largest improvement in seven years, reported Peru's Education Ministry (Minedu).


Production Minister, Piero Ghezzi, affirmed today the tax incentive, recently approved for Peru's technological innovation, will allow to double the investments in scientific research by the end of the current administration (2016).

Culture



The Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Peru declared the request for the extradition of Argentine activist Nicol�s Mauro Fern�ndez, after the Greenpeace environmental protest damaged the Nazca Lines.

The extradition was filed along with a sentence issue for six months of detention for Fern�ndez, by the First Court of Preliminary Preparatory Investigation of Nazca, according to the Poder Judicial del Per�.

Amnesty International's (AI) yearly report criticized Peru for "excessive use of force" in last year's social protests and conflicts,according to El Comercio.

The international human rights organization calculated nine deaths and a large number of sustained injuries to civilians and police officers in Peru in 2014.



The llamas were dodging their captors on roads and sidewalks for nearly an hour before they were finally reeled in.

The streams, and Vine video clips soon made national and finally international attention, and eventually word spread down to Lima, Peru.
