Peruvian consumer confidence is the highest of the region, and Peru was the only country in Latin America, which registered a positive trend during the fourth quarter of 2014, informed Nielsen, the American global information and measurement company.
 



The services and commerce sectors showed a good performance in 2014, due to a positive behavior in the domestic demand, informed the Bank Credit Suisse.
 



Peruvian enterprises participating in the organic food fair Biofach 2015 (Germany) engaged to close business deals worth $23 million in the next twelve months, reported the Foreign trade and Tourism Minister, Magali Silva.

A new World Bank report discusses how deeper, more precise knowledge of human behavior can facilitate addressing the most complex development challenges, such as reducing poverty, increasing tax collection efficiency or reducing energy consumption.
Environment



 Amid the hilly desert landscape to the south of Lima, a project is under way to establish 1000 "fog-catchers" to collect up to 400,000 litres of water per day and supply the poverty-stricken people living there.

The Peruvians Without Water Movement on Sunday set up the first three fog-catchers, devices that collect the water from the fog that regularly covers the Peruvian capital, particularly in winter.

Education


The Education Ministry has approved a technical regulation that stipulates the acquisition of school supplies and personal hygiene items for 3 to 5 year old kids registered at public school kindergarten in areas of extreme poverty.


A total of 526 youth are eligible to take the exam for the Peru-Ecuador Friendship Scholarship, informed the Education Ministry's National Program for Scholarships and Educational Loans (Pronabec).
Politics


Peru's President Ollanta Humala reshuffled his cabinet late on Tuesday in a bid to placate an increasingly powerful opposition bloc.


The Presidency issued a statement this weekend "categorically" denying that "any meetings were held in 2011 or any years after that," with Martin Belaunde Lossio, a lobbyist who is under investigation for alleged involvement in a major corruption ring.
Belaunde is currently under arrest in Bolivia. Peru's state prosecutor drafted a request for extradition, but this was turned down by the head of Peru's Criminal Court, Javier Villa Stein, on the grounds that the document was poorly drafted.
Agriculture


European Union's Ambassador to Peru, Irene Horejs, highlighted the quality of the organic bananas produced in Peru's Northern province of Sullana and other areas of the region Piura.
Diplomacy



The Peruvian government expressed today its strongest condemnation of the assassinations of 21 Coptic Christian Egyptian citizens by members of the extremist group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Libya.


With the aim of fostering development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country through training and professionalization of human resources, Peru and the United States today signed a Memorandum of Intention on Technical and Promotional Cooperation for Strengthening Trade Facilitation Capacities.


The Japanese Embassy in Peru will invest more than US$500,000 in five regions across the country to finance various infrastructure projects such as school workshops and classrooms, an irrigation channel and the implementation of a chestnut processing plant.

This intimate Amazon river adventure begins and ends in the Peruvian Amazon city of Iquitos, exploring in depth the Pacaya Samiria wildlife reserve, known as one of the largest protected areas in all of the Amazon river basin.

Facebook: Peruvian girl dances marinera norte�a in Canadian snow

 

A Facebook video post became instantly popular after people noticed a girl dancing the marinera norte�a, shoe-less and in the snow.

Peruvian native located in Canada, Brenda Angela Herrera, was caught dancing the traditional Peruvian dance on video. According to her Facebook account she is currently living in Toronto, Ontario.
