Peru's exports fell 15.3% in September versus the same month last year, marking the third worst decline in the value of shipments abroad so far this year, according to export association Adex.
Adex said the total value of exports in September was US$3.07 billion, financial daily Gestion reported.
Adex's chief economist, Carlos Gonzalez, said the decline was due to a 21.4% decrease in the value of traditional commodity exports, which account for almost 70 percent of total exports.

Peru will likely begin selling up to 49 percent of state-run energy company Petroperu on the Lima stock exchange in the second quarter of 2015, Deputy Energy Minister Edwin Quintanilla said in an interview on Monday.
The government is now studying what size of a stake it should sell on the bourse, Quintanilla said. Peru passed a law late last year allowing for the privatization of all but a controlling stake in Petroperu in a bid to modernize the 40-year-old company.

Peru will likely produce less copper this year and next than previously expected as big new projects face delays and output from the country's top producer slides on lower ore grades, the government said on Tuesday.
Energy and Mines Minister Eleodoro Mayorga said Peru will likely produce 1.4 million tonnes of copper this year, similar to last year's 1.37 million tonnes and under a September estimate for 1.5 million tonnes.

Peruvian prison officials denied on Monday a claim that convicted killer Joran van der Sloot was stabbed by other inmates in the remote maximum security prison where he was recently transferred for disciplinary reasons.
A prisons authority official said Van der Sloot has been isolated from other prisoners in the Challapalca prison in Peru's southern highlands. The official said he has two superficial wounds on his abdomen that were probably self-inflicted.
