I've been writing a lot about Peru. I spent a month there earlier in the year and feel like I only scratched the surface of one of the most interesting and diverse countries I've ever been to.

One of the things that continues to amaze me as I relive the trip is how many places there are to visit that I had never heard of before. It almost seems like there are three levels of sites - the big ones that most tourists see like Machu Picchu, Cusco and Lima. The secondary ones that people have heard of but don't always get to - Arequipa, Lake Titicaca, Nazca. And then there are those that the world has yet to discover.

One of them is called the 'Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve'.

Economy & Trade

Following a decade of record-high growth, Peru's economy has remained strong and resilient despite global uncertainty, thanks to strong fundamentals and supportive trade and policy management, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Earlier this year, the IMF stated that Peru's economy was forecast to be the fastest-growing economy in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2014.

Agriculture

A recently published research from Business Monitor International (BMI) states that the outlook for Peru's agricultural sector remains positive.

According to "Peru Agribusiness Report Q4 2014," the livestock sector is very dynamic, and investment into the country's ethanol sector is boosting sugar production.

Environment

The Municipality of Lima has proposed an order to formalize and regulate city recyclers.

People work across the city gathering recyclable items to exchange them for cash. The move, which is yet to be approved, will require these people to register themselves and legalize their situation.

Telecom

Going to the movies is a great way to wind down and be entertained - once you have purchased your tickets, that is. Aware that long lines at the box office can damper one's mood, CinePapaya stepped in to fill that gap in the market.

The Peruvian company lets moviegoers purchase tickets online as well as from mobile devices. Information regarding the film such as the synopsis, actor bios, and film trailers are available alongside showtimes.

Hartford, do you know how lucky you are? One top-notch Peruvian restaurant would be cause for celebration, but this metropolitan area has several noteworthy spots for authentic ceviche, pollo a la brasa and anticuchos, thanks to a sizable population of Peruvians in the region.

Located across the street from the Westin Hotel in San Isidro is the newcomer restaurant, Barrio Tapeo Peruano. As we entered the premises, we noticed the lively atmosphere, energetic vibe, and how incredibly busy the restaurant was with the steady flow of dining customers for a Monday.
