Honduras and Turkey expect to close negotiations for a trade agreement with Peru by the end of 2014, said the minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), Magali Silva. During the presentation of the ministry's proposed budget for 2015, the Cabinet official revealed Peru has signed and brought into force 17 trade agreements so far, which means national products have access to 52 international markets.

The White House Office of the U.S. Trade Representative issued the following news release: The Labor Affairs Council of the Peru - United States Trade Promotion Agreement (TPA) held its second meeting on October 17th, 2014, in Lima, Peru. The Council oversees the implementation of, and reviews progress made under Chapter 17 (Labor Chapter) of the TPA. The Council is comprised of cabinet-level or equivalent representatives of the Parties.

Peru, which will host this year's biggest climate summit, may pledge money for a United Nations fund to inject fresh momentum into international negotiations.
Peru is evaluating a pledge as a "political signal," and hopes to decide before the UN-mandated talks in Lima in December, Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal said in an interview today in Bonn without saying how much the country might pledge. Peru hopes the U.S. and the European Union will also make announcements before the meeting in Lima, he said.

As the Peruvian Avocado Commission (PAC) closes out a monumental 2014 season, it's not resting on its laurels. The second largest avocado importer in the United States is preparing for 2015, which is projected to be its biggest year ever in terms of amount of fruit imported, say officials from the PAC. More customized retailer programs, impactful new advertising, attention-generating public relations campaigns, and a solid social media program are under development and will be ready to launch when the first fruit arrives next spring, say company officials.

Mango from Peru is gaining international popularity in a number of forms. Besides fresh and dried mango shipments, canned mango as well as the fruit's juice have become key players for Peru's agricultural exports.
According to the Association of Exporters (ADEX), mango exports reached a value of US$ 119.9 million dollars between the months January and August of 2014. Compared to the same time period last year, this represents a 27.2 % increase.

Grimshaw Architects, an architectural firm based in London, has been selected to carry out the expansion project of the Jorge Chavez International Airport. According to ArchDaily, the "seven million square meter scheme will include a new air traffic control tower and second terminal".
The Jorge Chavez International Airport project will cost US$ 950 million dollars.

Inca Rail, the railway operator that travels from Ollantaytumbo to Machu Picchu, will begin construction of a storage yard for railcars. The November project, set to take place in Wayrapunco, a small town in Cusco, has received a US$ 2 million dollar investment.

Peruvian Airlines added its first route to Bolivia on 15 October, when it commenced daily flights from Lima (LIM) to La Paz (LPB). The 1,105-kilometre sector is operated via Cuzco (CUZ) in Peru, utilising the airline's 122-seat 737-700s. However, the new 521-kilometre link from Cuzco to La Paz is flown by Amaszonas with five weekly flights; while, Peruvian will face direct competition on the Lima-La Paz airport pair from Avianca and LAN Airlines' daily services.

Two Peruvian runners took first and second place in the Half Marathon in Toronto on Sunday, clocking in a good three minutes ahead of Jeff Costen of Canada, who came in third. There were 10,528 participants in the race.

 "Peruvian footballers have always had a reputation for being technically gifted. They've got really good touch," he explained. "We've now got to bridge the gap between generations and try and add some drive and determination to that skill.
