Peru is set to become the second biggest grape supplier to China for the 2014/15 season thanks to industry efforts in developing the market, according to the Chinese Peruvian Chamber of Commerce (Capechi).
Capechi estimates the Andean country will send 8.5 million boxes of fruit to the Chinese market for the season running from October through March.

The U.S. Secretary of State and a former United States senator, John Kerry, today highlighted the achievements made by the Peruvian government in combating illicit narcotics trafficking. Mr. Kerry was quoted as saying in his remarks prior to a high level meeting with Peruvian Foreign Minister Gonzalo Gutierrez in Washington, DC. "Peru has made significant arrests and undertaken important initiatives to stop illicit narcotics trafficking and some of the criminal activity that goes with it," he stated.

 The Peruvian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced that its two Alenia C-27J Spartan transport aircraft have moved into the fourth phase of its production programme. The fourth phase includes installation of cockpit equipment, engines, and flight control systems and will be followed by installation of the electrical system and systems checks. Peruvian flight and maintenance personnel will begin training in October and graduate in January 2015.

 Peru's Ministry of Culture informed that archaeologists have recently discovered important remains in Inca administrative center of Hatun Xauxa, located south of Jauja in Junin region. This discovery was made possible thanks to a research that the Ministry of Culture conducted through a project involving the Xauxa-Pachacamac of the Qhapaq �an stretch, and this as part of an archaeological research aimed at enhancing the said site.

WE need oxygen to breathe. The people of the Uros Floating Islands on Lake Titicaca in Peru also need oxygen to stay afloat.
Many centuries ago, these ancient people took to the waters of this lake, high in the Andes on the Peru-Bolivian border, to escape persecution, building floating villages where they work, eat, sleep and raise their families in peace.
Step aboard one of the artificial islands made from rafts of totora reeds and the spongy surface is akin to a firm waterbed.
Bubbles of oxygen captured in the roots under the surface are the secret to the buoyancy, but it's a cheap fuel source that comes at an enormous price.

Clothing and objects belonging to 54 unidentified people were exhibited recently by the Peruvian Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) in the human rights ombudsman's office in Lima. Their remains were found between 2005 and 2009 at burial sites in an area known as "La Hoyada" (The Hollow) in Huamanga province, Ayacucho region, in south-central Peru.

 Police Tuesday captured a fugitive mayor of one of Peru's largest cities in northern Peru who was wanted for corruption, daily Peru.21 reported. Roberto Torres, the mayor of Chiclayo, was arrested by police after going into hiding eight days ago. Late Tuesday, the Interior Minister, Daniel Urresti, said in Chiclayo that Torres had attempted to bribe the policewho found him outside the city, in the town of Mocupe.
