Peruvian economic growth is robust and generates confidence among international investors, President Ollanta Humala Tasso said on Tuesday in an interview with Bloomberg Television anchor, Mark Crumpton.

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala said his country will call for "less talk and more concrete action" at the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to be held in Lima, Peru in December.


Peru's Deputy Minister of Strategic Development of Natural Resources, Gabriel Quijandr�a, has announced the country's ratification of the Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol on climate change action, reported Peruvian Ministry of Environment.


Peruvian Foreign Minister Gonzalo Gutierrez stressed that adaptation is the key pillar in the climate change agenda, while speaking at the 20th Meeting of the Leaders' Representatives of the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate Change.

The former mayor of Lima, Luis Casta�eda, continues to have a wide lead over opponents only two weeks before the vote, according to a new poll.

A poll published on Monday by Datum said that Casta�eda had 57.7 percent support, well-above his next closest rivals. Salvador Heresi, the current mayor of Lima's San Miguel district, has 10.5 percent support, while current Lima Mayor Susana Villaran has 10 percent support, the poll found.

Peru's Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva, today welcomed the comments by Katherine Whaley -reporter and anchor at KHOU TV in Houston, United States- promoting visits to tourist sites in Peru.

Lima Cathedral, on the eastern side of the Plaza Mayor, is one of the oldest buildings in Lima and is built upon the site of a palace owned by the Inca prince Sinchi Puma. Francisco Pizarro himself laid the foundation stone of the original, church in 1535 and construction was completed three years later. The original building was very basic being constructed from abode and wood. Despite this church was upgraded to a cathedral when Pope Paul IIIdesignated Lima as a diocese of the Catholic Church.

Miscellaneous


Today marks a week since Spanish speleologist, Cecilio Lopez-Tercero, fell and became trapped in Inti Machay, a cave located in Peru's Amazon region. A team made up of over 40 rescuers are taking care of the fallen cave expert's physical condition by not rushing the process of lifting him to the cave's mouth. Meanwhile, hot food and liquids are being delivered in order to sustain Lopez. 



For those who find themselves with a few spare minutes, curious to learn something new, or perhaps looking for water-cooler talk inspiration, TED talks are a familiar go-to. The global conferences invite interesting speakers to share their impassioned interests or expertise with an audience, a majority of whom are reached by way of audio or video.

Come October 18, however, Peru will be hosting an independently organized event, TEDxTukuy, offering residents the chance to witness one of these performances live.



Perhaps the drama is just an advertising stunt, but having grossed US$ 1.2 billion at the global box office, Disney's "Frozen" isn't exactly hurting for an audience.

Peruvian authorities say they have captured a U.S. woman accused of fraudulently obtaining home loans in Virginia for unsophisticated borrowers, most of whom later lost their homes.

The FBI estimates financial institutions lost tens of millions of dollars in the scheme that netted Peruvian-born Rosita Vilchez and her co-conspirators more than $7 million while operating in 2005-2007 from a real estate agency in Manassas, Virginia.
