 President Ollanta Humala got a bit of a boost after an opinion poll showed that his approval rating has increased to above 30% for the first time since February. The poll by Datum said that Humala had a 32% approval rating in August, up eight percentage points from 24% in the July, according to dailyPeru.21.

 Peru's capital Lima will play host of the 18th American Regional Meeting convened by the International Labour Organization (ILO), taking place from Monday 13 to Thursday 16 October 2014. This year's venue for the regional gathering was set down on Tuesday following the signing of the agreement between Peru's Foreign Minister, Gonzalo Gutierrez Reinel; and the regional director of the multilateral organization, Elizabeth Tinoco.

 The United Kingdom has appointed top diplomat Anwar Choudhury as its new ambassador to Peru, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has announced. Choudhury,55, will replace James Dauris, who has served in the British diplomatic mission in Peru since July 15, 2010. According to a press release published on UK.gov, Dauris will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.
