Peruvian multinational beverage maker Ajegroup, with presence in more than 20 countries in Latin America, Asia and Africa, has managed to take on the largest soft drinks companies Coca Cola and Pepsi in Asia.

 According to an article published by the Financial Times, this is mainly due to a combination of a low-cost strategy, clever marketing and relentless focus on emerging markets.

Peru's central bank on Thursday held the benchmark interest rate steady at 3.75 percent but said it will soon loosen reserve rules, despite expectations it would opt for a second straight monthly rate reduction to counter sluggish economic growth.

Peru's government is on its way to fulfilling the goal of completely eradicating illegal mining operations in the ecologically-rich southeastern jungle region of Madre de Dios by year end, a government official said on Thursday. 


 

Peru's private investment promotion agency ProInversi�n awarded Colombian group ISA a 30-year concession for transmission project Friaspata-Mollepata.

Less than three months earlier, on May 29, the company picked up Peruvian transmission concession La Planicie-Industriales.

A wastewater treatment plant in Peruvian city Moquegua has begun operating after eight years of construction, local newspaper La Rep�blica reported.

The plant, capable of treating 120l/s, will serve Moquegua's historic central area, as well as Chen Chen, San Antonio and San Francisco, and the district of Samegua.

Asian and European influences, as well as local chefs' efforts to search for authentic Peruvian cuisine, are the main factors behind the global success of Peruvian cuisine, Ambassador Jaime Pomareda said Wednesday.

The envoy pointed to hybrid stir-fry beef Lomo Saltado at a buffet restaurant in the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul as exemplary Peruvian cuisine that showcases the Chinese influence on the local food.
 



Ceviche is a much celebrated gastronomical delight in the coastal areas of the Americas. In Peru, this dish is so much revered that they declared a holiday in its honor. Most of the coastal regions of South America have their own version of Ceviche.
