 Expoalimentaria Fair 2014 is expected to generate US$ 700 million in sales, the Peruvian Association of Exporters (Adex) said on Tuesday. According to Jorge Rochabrund, Adex's general manager, in last year's edition of the trade fair regional producers and international buyers closed deals worth US$ 600 million.

 Fitch Ratings has completed its review of Peru's four largest banks and their related entities. As a result of the review, the Viability Ratings (VRs) and Issuer Default Ratings (IDRs) of BBVA Banco Continental (BC), Banco de Credito del Peru (BCP), and Banco Internacional del Peru (Interbank) have been upgraded while the ratings of Scotiabank Peru (SBP) were affirmed.

 The China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) is planning to invest at least $2bn in Peru over the next decade, following recent acquisition of Petrobras' assets in the country, CNPC's Latin America division head Gong Bencai said. Bencai was quoted by Reuters as saying in an interview at CNPC's Lima offices that the company is seeking potential opportunities in Peru aimed to either buy companies or to participate in the bidding of oil fields.

 The US$5.85 billion acquisition of a Peruvian copper project will be transformational for its new owners and deliver on its strategy for substantial growth, says MMG Limited. Talking in Sydney at the Paydirt 2014 Latin America Downunder Conference today, MMG's Executive General Manager, Mr Michael Nossal, said the just announced deal with GlencoreXstrata for MMG to acquire the Las Bambas copper project in Peru for US$5.85 billion, via a competitive tender process, was a "unique opportunity".

 More than 300 hectares of rice and cotton are expected to switch over to more profitable crops such as quinoa along the country's coast, Peru's Agriculture and Irrigation Ministry (Minagri) announced Tuesday. "This year we expect to converse 300 yields in the coast, mainly with quinoa," said Cesar Sotomayor, Peruvian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policies.

 Peruvian Foreign Minister Eda Rivas is set to travel to Mexico this week to meet with her counterparts from the Pacific Alliance, a trade bloc composed of Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru. Eda Rivas will head to the Aztec country, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fernando Rojas, who will be attending the 24th Meeting of the High Level Group (HLG) of the regional trade bloc on May 29th, 2014.

 An initial batch of eight Mil Mi-171Sh 'Hip' multi-role helicopters is expected to be delivered to the Peruvian Army in November 2014, according to Minister of Defence Pedro Cateriano. The remaining 16 helicopters are scheduled to be delivered in 2015.

 The Peruvian Ministry of Culture is considering implementing a shift system in its visitor schedule in order to ensure even flow of foot traffic. According to Andina news agency, the Ministry of Culture would attempt to institute a system that would bring tourists in during two different shifts.

 The body of a man believed to have disappeared 15 years ago was found in the Colca Valley by two mountain guides from the area. The unfortunate discovery was made by Eloy Cacya, the mountain guide who also found Ciro Castillo's body in 2011.
