Peru's per capita gross domestic product is expected to reach US$ 8,000 in 2017, while GDP when adjusted by purchasing power parity (PPP) is to grow to US$ 14,000, Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has said.

 In a move that went somewhat unnoticed, the iShares MSCI All Peru Capped ETF was the top-performing single-country Latin America ETF in April, gaining 7.3%. That tops even the high-flying iShares MSCI Brazil Capped ETF. One obvious catalyst behind EPU's bullishness has been upbeat growth forecasts. Last month, the IMF forecast 2014 GDP growth of 5.5% for Peru. That compares with 4.5% for Colombia and just 1.8% for Brazil. The IMF expects Peruvian GDP to rise 5.8% next year and noted the country's 2.5% rate of inflation is the second-lowest in Latin America behind Colombia.

Cobra Energia has awarded Siemens Energy another order to expand its onshore wind power fleet in Peru by 97 megawatts (MWs). The Tres Hermanas wind power plant includes a combination of 25 direct drive SWT-3.0-108 wind turbines and eight geared SWT-2.3-108 units. The contract also includes six years of service and maintenance. The project is expected to be commissioned in July 2015. The new wind power plant is the second project that Spanish wind developer Cobra Energia is executing with Siemens in Peru.

A Peruvian university is tackling the problem of air quality in construction areas with the development of an air-purifying bollboard which it claims can purify 100,000m3 of air - equivalent to 1,200 trees.
Universidad de Ingenier�a y Tecnolog�a (UTEC) developed technology to remove dust, metal and stone particles kicked up by the construction process to both improve people's health to a radius of five blocks whilst also advertising its research credentials.

 Army reservist Sapper Matthew Dalley, 24, of Sandhurst Road, will be one of 12 soldiers, both regulars and reserves from 101 Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) to scale Mount Huascar�n, Peru's highest mountain in the Western Andes. The trek will see the soldiers reach altitudes of 6,746m in an expedition that will cross all four of Peru's tallest peaks.
