Peruvian exports of blueberries amounted to US$ 4 million in the first two months of this year, the Agricultural Producers Association of Guilds of Peru (AGAP) said on Sunday.
In 2012, the South American nation exported nearly 45 tons of blueberries with revenues worth nearly US$ 1 million, while in 2013, shipments raised to 1,500 tons and had revenues of around US$ 16,7 million.

Dengue fever is a leading cause of illness and death in the tropics and subtropics, infecting as many as 400 million people annually, according to the CDC.
"Currently, the most effective way to controldengue outbreaks is to spray for mosquitoes and help people to avoid getting bit by them," says Gonzalo Vazquez-Prokopec, a disease ecologist in Emory's Department of Environmental Sciences.
Vazquez-Prokopec is a co-principal investigator on a major dengue research project ongoing in Iquitos, Peru, which is honing in on ways to control outbreaks of the disease and more effectively treat infections.

Thousands of Peruvians in support of LGBT rights marched Saturday in the capital city Lima after the country's Commission of Justice repeatedly failed to address a bill that would recognise civil unions for same-sex couples.
