Peru is almost constantly being recognized by the rest of the world as a hotspot for a diverse array of gourmet cuisine. However, as Gestion reports, too many citizens of Peru are not receiving adequate food, putting the health and future of the country at risk.
It seems like a contradiction. Peru receives so many accolades and praise, positioning the country as a "gastronomic mecca," but according to the United Nations Development Programme, almost 35% of Peruvians don't eat even the minimum [daily] caloric requirement.
Add to this the fact that 13.8 million Peruvians- that is to say, almost half of the population- does not always have physical or economic access to the kind of safe and nutritious food that's required to lead an active and healthy life.

Instituto de Estudios Peruanos has just published Cipriani como actor pol�tico (Cipriani as a political actor) a book by Luis P�sara and Carlos Manuel Indacochea. The volume focuses on the political role played by Juan Luis Cipriani --the notorious right-wing Catholic prelate prelate that is currently archbishop of Lima and primate of Peru -- since the Fujimori dictatorship.
Careful and incisive analysis of Cipriani's words and deeds, by P�sara, is supplemented by Indacochea's synthetic and well-documented rendition of the history of Opus Dei, the cardinal's organization of origin, since it foundation in Francoist Spain.

Music legend Paul McCartney will return to Peru to play a concert at Lima's National Stadium on April 25, 2014.
The former Beatle performed his first ever concert in the Andean nation in 2009 with a 50,000-strong crowd at the capital's Monumental Stadium.
Beatle fans, music-goers and wings' followers are delighted with the confirmed news which was announced on Thursday morning through McCartney's official Twitter and Facebook pages.
