According to Peru's National Institute for Statistics and Information (INEI), the life expectancy for Peruvian women in 2001 was 74 years. By 2013, that number rose to 77. For some perspective on this increase, think about this: the United Nations says that between 2010 and 2013, the worldwide average life expectancy for women was 73.5.

Global warming will expose millions more people to malaria as parasite-bearing mosquitoes move to higher altitudes, according to new research into the health perils from climate change.
Tropical highland areas in Africa, Asia and central and southern America are particularly at risk, a study in the US journal Science said Thursday.
