Peruvian President Ollanta Humala on Monday appointed Rene Cornejo as his new prime minister, in a cabinet shuffle that included changes to several other posts.

Peru's President Ollanta Humala reappointed his finance minister in a major cabinet reshuffle late on Monday that also replaced the mines minister and made the current housing minister his fifth prime minister.

Power generation assets operator Odebrecht Energia has received an approval for an environmental impact study for its 600MW Chadin 2 hydropower project from the Government of Peru.

The project, which will be located in the Mara��n River Basin, will comprise a 175m high by 370m long dam. It will have a capacity to produce 600MW and a flooded area of 32km�.

IDE Technologies Ltd. says a slowdown in mining investment won't deter its plans to expand in Chile and Peru where governments are ordering mining companies to use desalinated seawater over freshwater supplies.  

Three Peruvian judges are scheduled to meet on 1 April following a lawsuit filed to stop a gas consortium from operating in a reserve in the Amazon created for indigenous peoples living in "initial contact" and "voluntary isolation."
