The IMF in its latest report titled "World Economic Outlook (WEO)" projected Peru's economy is set to grow 5.4% by the end of this year, while next year the entity projected an expansion of 5.8%.
 
 

Peruvian government's efforts to promote economic inclusion are seen in the expansion of the employment rate, playing a key role in the country's social inclusion, International Monetary Fund's (IMF) residence representative in Peru, Kevin Ross has said.

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala is reshuffling his Cabinet after asking his prime minister to leave, part of an investor-friendly effort to push through stalled reforms and projects, sources said Wednesday.

Finance Minister Luis Miguel Castilla, an ally of investors, will remain in office, four sources familiar with Humala's plans told Reuters. Two of them said Humala will change at least five of his 18 ministers.

When I interviewed Peruvian President Ollanta Humala last week, he struck me as a less articulate leader than most of his South American colleagues -but one who may be doing a better job than his more loquacious counterparts.

Economy

 

Ten companies from Peru's fisheries and aquaculture sector will be part of a trade mission to Bangkok, Thailand from November 9 to 13, 2013.

The mission, led by Peru's export and tourism agency PromPeru, aims to present Peruvian fish products and identify potential buyers, reports The Fish Site.  


 

Peru water authority ANA is planning to invest over 3.5bn soles (US$1.27bn) in projects to improve the quality and use of water resources in the Chira-Piura water basin, according to a release from the authority.

The projects fall under a broader management plan for the Chira-Piura water basin and were developed after carrying out a diagnostic of the current state of the water resources as well as studying the various project alternatives.

Compa�ia de Minas Buenaventura S.A.A., Peru's largest, publicly-traded precious metals mining company, announced today results for the third quarter 2013 (3Q13) and nine-month (9M13) periods, ended September 30, 2013. All figures have been prepared in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards.

Mozilla today announced Telefonica is launching Firefox OS phones this week in Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. Both the ZTE Open and the Alcatel One Touch Fire are arriving in Mexico today, while Peru gets the ZTE Open, and Uruguay gets the Alcatel One Touch Fire.

Peru's government has set a target of attracting 4 million overseas tourists to the country for next year, Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) has announced.

Addressing Tuesday the Budgetary Commission of the Congress, Mincetur's head Magali Silva unveiled that his sector's budget for the 2014 fiscal year totals US$ 518.4 million.

With the support of specialists from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom, historians in the region of Lambayeque will take important steps toward protecting documents from the 1800s.

According to Andina news agency, the Regional Archive of Lambayeque is home to an impressive collection of newspapers dating as far back as 1847. The newspapers circulated in the cities of Lambayeque, Chiclayo, Ferre�afe, and Monsef� during the 19th century.

Archaeologists hope to better understand the relationship between the temple at Pachacamac and the islands off the coast.

The Pachacamac archaeological complex is located about 40 kilometers south of the city of Lima. The site was utilized by different groups over the centuries, including the Huari and the Ichma. The Ichma were later conquered by the Inca empire, and Pachacamac was absorbed into imperial infrastructure. 


 

Sergio Markarian has turned down an offer to stay on as Peru coach after they failed to qualify for next year's World Cup in Brazil.

"We recognize that things didn't work out, we are responsible for that and we are more disappointed than anyone else," the Uruguayan told the Canal N cable news channel.
