Miner Hochschild announces it's on track for 2013 silver target
Mining firm Hochschild has reported a solid third quarter and said that it was on track to achieve its 2013 20.0m ounces silver target. (Release)
Production in the period was good for the company, with attributable production of 5.4m silver equivalent ounces. Hochschild also got approval for its Inmaculada mill construction permit from the Peruvian government.

Mariana hopes Condor de Oro project will be "company changing"
Mariana Resources (MARL) is to begin initial drilling at the Condor de Oro gold-copper project in Peru, in the hope it will become a "company changer". Mariana must participate in the drilling programme, which includes up to 20 holes across three concessions at the project, under the terms of its option agreement to acquire 60% of Condor Resources' stake in Condor de Oro.

Photos in an internal report by a Peruvian government agency reveal illegal clearings in a reserve in the Amazon purportedly protecting indigenous peoples living in 'voluntary isolation' and 'initial contact.'
The report is based on helicopter over-flights of the Kugapakori-Nahua-Nanti Reserve (KNNR) made by the National Institute for the Development of Andean, Amazonian and Afroperuvian Peoples (INDEPA) on 2 and 3 February 2012.

Russia has proposed establishing a servicing and maintenance center in Peru for its Russian- and Soviet-made helicopters, a senior government official said Wednesday.
The offer was discussed at a meeting between Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Peruvian counterpart Pedro Cateriano, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said.

Peru's government seeks to position the country as a hub for sustainable tourism hand-in-hand with biotrade, generating partnerships and competitiveness in the value chain, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) has reported.
Mincetur's head, Magali Silva, pointed out the Ollanta Humala administration seeks to promote value-added exports which could change people's lives, in particular, of those living in the Peruvian inner regions by making biotrade an inclusive tool.
"Biotrade should be handled on the basis of a value chain approach, which is a partnership among producers, processors, distributors, traders and support institutions and regulations," Silva said.
