Andina news agency reports that the Ministry of Energy and Mines has released a study that reveals the definite possibility for alternative power sources within the Peruvian Amazon. According to the study, Loreto has the potential to generate 20 megawatts with bioenergetic sources, as does the regi�n of Ucayali. San Martin could generate up to 15 megawatts with bioenergy, and Madre de Dios has the potential to generate 5 megawatts using bioenergy resources.

Increasing numbers of foreigners are coming to Peru to look for work.
According to the INEI, 327,937 foreigners entered Peru in the month of August. Of those that entered the country, 43.1% were Chilean, many of which entered through the border crossing at Tacna. The United States provided the second-highest amount of visitors, with 11.7% of all foreigners who entered the country in August being from the US, followed by 10.2% from Ecuador. Spain and Bolivia each accounted for 4.9% of people entering the country.
