Foreign Relations Minister Eda Rivas attended Congress on Friday to defend a meeting between the Presidents of Peru and France this week. Despite being called by Congress, Rivas addressed an almost empty chamber, with only 35 of 130 lawmakers present.

Bilateral relationship between Peru and China is going through one of its best phases, in such a way that there is a successful strategic partnership between both nations, Chinese Ambassador in Lima, Minhui Huang has said.

The Chinese diplomat stressed the Peru-China relationship become tighter and more fluid after the official visit of President Ollanta Humala to the Asian country in April this year. 

Peru's Agriculture Minister, Milton Von Hesse, will hold talks with his Israeli counterpart Rammi Cohen on water technology transfer cooperation on the sidelines of WATEC 2013 International exhibition, it was reported Monday.

Lima Fashion Week (LIF Week), Peru's twice-annual celebration of couture and design, is back for another glamorous go round.

This time, the event will take place from Nov. 5 - 7 at the Casa Prado in Miraflores. LIF Week organizer, Efrain Salas told El Comercio, "The lounge will be on the terrace: as we're knocking on summer's door, we want to take advantage of the beautiful terrace at the Casa Prado."

Peruvian government will increase the overall budget on the enhancing of sporting facilities and on the training of elite athletes for the 2019 Pan American Games, said Juan Jimenez, President of Peru's Cabinet of Ministers.  

 

 Lima's successful bid to host the 2019 Pan American Games will help to bring large benefits to the city and to the nation, tourism officials say.

 

Andina news agency reports that Peru's National Chamber of Tourism is making some promising projections about the games. CANATUR is predicting that the arrival of the 2019 Pan American Games will create a large number of temporary jobs in Lima. Additionally, CANATUR says that a possible $2.5 billion of investment will come to the hospitality sector in order to expand hotel capacity by 2016. 25,000 - 30,000 tourists are expected to come to Lima for the 2019 Pan American Games.

 

 

In a touching moment during the 92nd annual WBA convention in Lima, Peru, former WBA lightweight champion, Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini presents an authentic belt around the waits of his former Peruvian foe, Orlando Romero. Last month, September 15th marked the thirtieth anniversary of the epic battle waged between the two lightweights at Madison Square Garden. This is the first time the two warriors have sen each other since that night, and nothing but respect and admiration filled the air.

Increasing numbers of foreigners are coming to Peru to look for work.

According to the INEI, 327,937 foreigners entered Peru in the month of August. Of those that entered the country, 43.1% were Chilean, many of which entered through the border crossing at Tacna. The United States provided the second-highest amount of visitors, with 11.7% of all foreigners who entered the country in August being from the US, followed by 10.2% from Ecuador. Spain and Bolivia each accounted for 4.9% of people entering the country.

Ex-Bishop Guillermo Abanto has officially recognized the paternity of the two-year-old daughter he fathered with a young woman that he met though his work as a priest.
