Peru's Economy and Finance Minister Luis Castilla has downplayed concerns about potential economic effects of the US government shutdown on Peru. "Thank God we have international reserves in the Central Reserve Bank, we have room to deal with this instability in the markets and a financial rating that distinguishes us as a very solvent and credible country in the world."

BCP sees Peru's economy up 6.5% in Q4-2013
Banco de Credito, the country's largest Bank, has forecasted Peruvian GDP growing 6.5% in the last quarter of the year, driven by the increased domestic demand of sector such as construction, commerce and services.

Peru's Humala Says Development of Minas Conga in Hands of Yanacocha
Peru President Ollanta Humala said Wednesday that the development of the Minas Conga copper and gold project in northern Peru is in the hands of Minera Yanacocha, the company that owns the deposit.
The $5 billion Minas Conga project has faced opposition from residents and politicians in Peru's Cajamarca region over concerns that it would deplete the local water supply. Violent protests against the project last year left several people dead and led Yanacocha to suspend construction work at the mine.

Peru's Hochschild to buy out IMZ in US$280mn deal
Peruvian precious metals miner Hochschild Mining plans to take over International Minerals, its partner in two Peruvian silver mines, in a US$280mn deal.
Hochschild, which also operates silver-gold mines in Mexico and Argentina, plans to raise up to US$96mn in equity financing for the acquisition, which would enable it to take IMZ's 40% stake in the Pallancata mine and the Inmaculada project, the Lima-based company said Wednesday in a statement.

According to the Thai Foreign Ministry, the Peruvian president will pay a visit to Thailand on Oct. 4-5. He will arrive at Bangkok Don Mueang Airport late Friday night.
The president of Peru's visit to Thailand will take place before his attending the 21st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation ( APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Bali, Indonesia on Oct. 5-7.

 Ukraine and Peru World Cup qualifier games will be played at home in front of supporters after FIFA temporarily went back on its ruling that the match be staged behind closed doors. Fifa said on Thursday the ban had been lifted under the so-called "suspensive effect" after Ukraine appealed.
