President's Letter
|
|

Dear Alums and Friends of the Mount,
Where would you be today if you couldn't read? Admit it, you would be as lost in space as the characters in the film Gravity!
As the slogan goes, "reading is fundamental." So convinced of this reality, Noella Farrauto (spouse of John Farrauto '57 has been volunteering with our Junior High School students to enhance their reading skills. She and John recently funded an in-class library for the students. This project has encouraged students to embrace a wide range of literary genres. They now have immediate access to these texts in their class. This has proven to be a simple but powerful way to open up the world of literacy and create a bright and imaginative future of reading for our students.
You will see alum Dr. Anthony Maddalo '72, explore future careers in his recent presentation made to the Sports Medicine Program. In a lively exchange about the rigors of college and medical training Dr. Maddalo was able to reduce the complexity and fear embedded in student concerns and questions.
Don't forget to join us at the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Come march with us (2:30 line-up on East 46 between Madison and Vanderbilt) or cheer us along 5th Avenue!!
Lastly, I would like to encourage you to become a sustaining member of our Annual Fund. By setting aside a monthly donation charged to your account you will have made a tremendous difference at the end of our fiscal year. A modest contribution would have a significant accumulating impact on the Annual Fund.
As always, I am grateful for the many ways our alums and friends share their personal talents and resources with us to enhance the educational experience of our students. It reduces the difficulty of getting to the "stars", and gives new meaning to Ad Astra Per Aspera. Frankly, who doesn't need a leg up on the competition!
Thank you for your generosity!
Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony Miserandino
