What's Happening in November
Calling All Volunteers!
We need your help on Saturday, November 3, starting at 10:00 a.m., to move books and begin the creation of our new Teen Space. Librarian Naomi Magnoni has been working with the Teen Advisory Group,  Eagle Scout candidate Michael Piekarz, and a variety of volunteers in planning our first teen space at the Library. We need many hands to help move materials. Please make sure to wear something you won't mind working in - and close-toed shoes are a must. Shelves and books will be shifted to make room for the 'tween and teen space. Lunch will be served to those who sign up to volunteer. Call 508-485-5031 or visit the Library to sign up.

From the Friends of the Library
To avoid Thanksgiving conflicts, The
Friends will hold its November meeting
on Wednesday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Library. The agenda will include new fundraising ideas such as holiday sales.
New members are always welcome, even
if you can't make it to the meetings. We've created a new Facebook group to help members communicate more easily between meetings. To learn more about joining the Friends, email Valarie at [email protected].

Are you making the most of the
Library's great passes?
The Friends group estimates that their sponsored passes saved patrons approximately $25,000 over the last year. But their review discovered some passes were
underutilized. Boston museums saw the
most use, while out-of-state attractions
Roger Williams Park Zoo and
Mystic Aquarium each had fewer
than 50 requests annually. Also in danger
due to low usage are the passes to Discovery Museum and Davis Farmland.

To get the most value for the community,
the Friends are considering dropping some
of the lesser used passes in favor of other
local attractions. They welcome
suggestions for which museums you
would like to see make the list.

The fate of current passes will be decided
based on usage and value versus cost.
Every time you use a library pass, it will
be considered a vote for keeping it.
The more use patrons make of these
passes the more valuable we'll assume
they are to the town. So if there are
passes you have been meaning to use,
this is the time to do it. Click on http://www.southboroughlib.org/services/museum-passes/.

Trustees meeting on Nov. 13
The Board of Library Trustees also will be shifting its meeting date in November so it does not fall within Thanksgiving week. The Board will meet Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. in a downstairs meeting room. Normally the Board meets on the third Tuesday at 6 p.m.
