Check-In

We will not be asking members to check-in this year. When you arrive, you will be greeted by a Board Member and we encourage you to review information on upcoming educational opportunities and to fill out a Yizkor card for Yom Kippur.

We do ask that non-members sign in with their name, phone number and email. Our Membership Director, Roberta Gabriel, will be on hand to answer any questions.

Entering the Sanctuary

It is always a joy to see people streaming into the sanctuary greeting old friends and meeting new people. At the same time, it is often a difficult transition from a room abuzz with people talking into the sacred space of prayer.

Our wonderful Chazzanut (Cantorial) Group will begin singing meditative prayers at 7:00 pm, a full half hour before the start of services. If you would like to sit and enter into this space of prayer with us, you are most welcome.

However, if you would like to greet friends and chat, we invite you to quietly enter the building, go into the sanctuary and put an article of clothing on your seats. You may then quietly exit the sanctuary through the hallway to our lovely patio where those who would like to talk and greet one another will gather until the service begins.

Child Care for
Yom Kippur Morning Service

BBYO will be providing child care for potty-trained children ages 3 to 7 years old for a suggested donation of $10 per child. This is a fundraiser for the young men's organization. They will also provide activities and snacks.

Please take your child or children to Room 103 in the Tree of Life Pre-School a few minutes before the service. You will sign in your child and provide a cell phone number in case of emergency, as well as noting any food allergies and other important information.

Food Drive

Please consider bringing a donation of non-perishable food items to support the Food Bank of Contra Costa County. We have four large barrels that we hope to fill twice during the High Holy Days to help end hunger in our community. You can also make a donation by sending a check to the Beth Chaim Office with a note stating "Food Bank."
Break-the-Fast

Rae and Jonathan Corr have once again graciously offered to open their home for our annual Break-Fast on Yom Kippur.

Please join us for a lovely evening of food, wine and community on Wed., Sept. 23rd at 6:30pm at 121 Deer Ridge Place, in Black Hawk, Danville.

Family, children and guests are welcome. Don't forget your sweaters as we'll be outdoors. No RSVP is necessary. If you are able, please bring something to share:
Last names A-P: Wine
Last names Q-Z: Dessert (finger food, please, for ease of serving and enjoying)
