Check-In

Thank you for responding to our request to let us know how many members of your family and friends will be joining us for High Holy Day services. This assisted us in preparing our Sanctuary to welcome all of our members and guests.

We will not be asking you to check-in this year. When you arrive, you will be greeted by a Board Member and we encourage you to review information on upcoming educational opportunities and to fill out a Yizkor card for Yom Kippur.

Entering the Sanctuary

It is always a joy to see people streaming into the sanctuary on Erev Rosh Hashanah, greeting old friends and meeting new people. At the same time, it is often a difficult transition from a room abuzz with people talking into the sacred space of prayer.

This year we are going to experiment with an approach that seeks to maintain the wonderful opportunity to connect and greet friends while honoring of the sacred space of sanctuary, even before the actual service begins. Our wonderful Chazzanut (Cantorial) Group will begin singing meditative prayers at 7:00 pm, a full half hour before the start of services. If you would like to sit and enter into this space of prayer with us, you are most welcome.

However, if you would like to greet friends and chat, we invite you to quietly enter the building, go into the sanctuary and put an article of clothing on your seats. You may then quietly exit the sanctuary through the hallway to our lovely patio where those who would like to talk and greet one another will gather until the service begins.

We hope that this experiment works for our community. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and consideration as we move into these High Holy Days.

Child Care for
Rosh Hashanah Morning Service
& Yom Kippur Morning Service

BBYO will be providing child care for potty-trained children ages 3 to 7 years old for a suggested donation of $10 per child. This is a fundraiser for the young men's organization. They will also provide activities and snacks.

Please take your child or children to Room 103 in the Tree of Life Pre-School a few minutes before the service. You will sign in your child and provide a cell phone number in case of emergency, as well as noting any food allergies and other important information.

Food Drive

Please consider bringing a donation of non-perishable food items to support the Food Bank of Contra Costa County. We have four large barrels that we hope to fill twice during the High Holy Days to help end hunger in our community. You can also make a donation by sending a check to the Beth Chaim Office with a note stating "Food Bank."
