Learn to play and accompany Jewish liturgical music at home, in the synagogue, or under a tree

Did you ever want to be able to play a drum at Shabbat? Whether it's "Shabbat Shalom," "Shalom Aleichem," or even "This Land is Your Land," everyone can learn to hold a beat, no matter what drum or percussion instrument you have or can borrow. Instructor Bruce Silverman will highlight traditional middle-eastern rhythms and simple all-purpose rhythms, perfect for prayer, singing, dancing, and playing along with other instruments. Some drums and percussion will be provided.

The commitment, excitement and musical growth in our prior sessions was palpable and so we are offering another session. New students of all levels are welcome!

About the leader

Bruce Silverman directs the Orpheus World Music Ensemble,
who recently performed at Beth Chaim's "Thank God It's Shabbat!" He plays music and offers poetry at Chochmat Halev's Shabbat services, was a founder of Havurah Shir Neshama and years ago played with the Beth Chaim Band.

His work combines drumming and healing. Bruce is an expert in making it easy for all to bring Jewish and world music into their lives.
