GREETERS & USHERS NEEDED!

This is an invitation to all congregants, male and female, between the ages of 19 and 99, who would be interested in being a Greeter/Usher at this year's Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Services. Greeters and Ushers play an important role in our congregation during these holidays; and, we are seeking volunteers to help our services be smooth and the seating of our congregants well organized.

This is an opportunity for community service for both adults as well as "20-somethings" within our member families.

Beth Chaim Greeters welcome all who come to worship and try to make them (members and non-members) feel comfortable, check their tickets, and answer questions; Ushers help worshipers to the best seats at the time of their arrival, provide prayer books, and control entry into and out of the sanctuary at certain times.

With enough volunteers, each taking only one shift at one service, we will be fully-staffed and still not require much of a time commitment from any one individual. We need volunteers at each of the seven services. (Start times for first-shift volunteers are 30 minutes before the start of services.)

Length of shifts will depend on the number of volunteers. Greeters and Ushers are provided with direction, guidelines, and procedures. Remember, being a HHD volunteer is a mitzvah (although the pay is not great, and it does not include a 401k plan).

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Andy Orgel, who is coordinating the Volunteer Program, by email: [email protected].. Please let him know the day(s) and time(s) (early shit or late shift) you would be available.  Please respond to him by Friday, September 4th.
