Dear Friends:

Some people have asked, "Why should Jews stand up for the Yezidis when their people are being intentionally wiped out by ISIS?"

May Jewish voices are responding, "Have we learned no lessons from the Shoa?"

I stand with other Bay Area Rabbis and many other faith community leaders who give voice to the voiceless and call attention to the atrocities that are being inflicted on these people.

I have attended an interfaith workshop on this deeply troubling issue and will be at the Interfaith Press Conference in Berkeley on April 15th.

I think as Jews we have a special responsibility to educate ourselves on this issue of genocide, and stand with others who are calling attention to this tragedy and helping to mobilize a just and compassionate response.
