Barker Road Planting Come join us Friday & Saturday - volunteers needed for State Line Restoration

Sign-up now. Help plant over 800 native species in a 1.9 acre area to improve habitat for fish, enhance water quality and make for an aesthetically pleasing water trail access.

 

Date: October 18 and 19

Location: South side of State Line Bridge. Map.

Volunteer Times: Friday: 12 am - 4 pm, Saturday: 9 am - 12 am, 12 am - 4 pm

Spokane River issues part of Lake Roosevelt Forum Conference    

 

The Lake Roosevelt Forum Conference will be at the Davenport Hotel November 19th and 20th. Click here to view agenda. Click here to register.

 

The conference features sessions of interest to Spokane River and regional interests. For instance, the conference opens with a unique plenary session which takes the climate change discussion to the next level. The keynote and panelists will present on modeling and tools to account for climate change as a part of developing policy and natural resource planning. U.S. Forest Service, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Bonneville Power Administration, Ecology, Bureau of Reclamation, and WSU will be presenting. Read More 

NEWTECH programs receive EnviroStars certification   
   
The first school in Spokane County to do so, NEWTECH Skill Center has earned an environmental certification typically given to businesses.

EnviroStars certifies businesses whose practices and policies reduce and properly manage hazardous waste and conserve resources. Because NEWTECH functions like 13 different businesses under one roof, the Department of Health approached NEWTECH with the idea of having the programs which deal with hazardous waste go through the certification process.
