Spring Renewal   

Spring is typically thought of as a time of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection, and regrowth. In order to make space for new things to come in, we have to clear out the old, stale and stagnant areas of our life. 

 

Some ideas for renewing mind, body and spirit:

  • Review your New Year's goals and intentions: what have you accomplished so far? What needs to be adjusted or revised?
  • Conduct a releasing ceremony: On slips of paper, write down limiting beliefs, behaviors or attitudes you'd like to let release. One by one burn them in a fire (a candle outside will do) and say, "I release you to make room for something new to come in."
  • Do a smudge / energetic clearing of your home or bedroom: purchase a bundle of sage at a metaphysical or Whole Foods type store, light it, and blow out the flame. Start in the center of the room, swirl the smoke around, move out to a corner, back to the center, do another corner, and so on. Repeat: "I release any stuck energy."
  • Review your relationships: Is there deadwood that needs to be cleared out? Do your relationships serve you or bring you down?
  • Find a new way to do something: your hair, makeup, wardrobe, cooking, route to work, the way you relate to your family.
  • Do a juice cleanse for a day; search on-line for one that works for you.
  • Connect with nature: go on a hike, go to the beach, the mountains, or just lie in the grass under a tree.
  • Clean out a closet: if you haven't worn something within the past six months, donate it to charity.
  • Clean up your finances: organize your receipts, update your accounts, or set up a system like Mint.com to track your finances.
  • Organize your pantry or kitchen cupboards.

Try one or two of the above suggestions and notice if anything shifts. Then try another one or two, and keep going.  Soon you'll create enough space for something new to enter into your life.
