Stories of Triumph: Danni

Watching teenagers make choices that will impact their lives in a positive way for years to come always makes us at YouthZone incredibly proud.  Recently, a young woman working with YouthZone, Danni, made some important decisions that will affect her future for the better. (Read more ...)

Locals' Choice - YouthZone Wins Gold!

Thank you so much to all of you that voted for YouthZone during the Post Independent's Locals' Choice awards.  We are very proud of our GOLD award for best non-profit organization. We understand there are so many wonderful non-profit organizations throughout the Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valleys that do amazing work.  We are touched that our clients, volunteers and supporters care enough to recognize our organization for all that we do ... none of which we could do without you!
Bank of Colorado / DM Neuman Donation
Ken Robinson presenting Lori Mueller
of YouthZone with his donation

When the Bank of Colorado began the process of demolishing their location on Grand Avenue to make way for a new building, they were innovative in hoping the excitement of "out with the old, in with the new" would bring in a few potential donors for area non-profits.  And it worked!  Thanks to a generous donation of $4,000 by Ken Robinson of Roaring Fork Liquors, Ken was first in line for helping to demolish the old building.  Bank of Colorado and DM Neuman Construction matched Ken's donation, providing a welcome and appreciated $8,000 to YouthZone.

Elise Hillbrand Art on Display at YZ

We invite everyone to stop by the YouthZone office in Glenwood Springs and check out the amazing artwork on display by a young artist, Elise Hillbrand.  After seeing some of her work, YouthZone's Patty Schaffner asked her if she'd be interested in displaying her work at YouthZone.

"The idea behind these pieces was to invoke deep thought about our culture," said Hillbrand.  "I wanted a piece of art that wouldn't necessarily be something you'd see hanging on a wall. I wanted people to stop and really think about the piece and discuss what it meant to them based on their own lives. The pieces may start out dark, but ultimately the series has a happy ending."

Hillbrand hopes that her work will inspire and remind people that even though there is a lot of negativity in the world, we are the only ones standing in our way to achieving happiness.
