Stories of Triumph

 

Sometimes, when young people make mistakes and find themselves in trouble, it can lead to a very positive outcome. This was the case for Paul, a recent story of triumph.

 

Paul came to YouthZone the way more than 65% of youth do - through the court system.  A teenager who had not been in trouble in the past, Paul made a poor decision and was arrested for a minor in possession of alcohol charge.  While working with Courtney Dunn, Court Case Manager at YouthZone, Paul participated in a Youth and Family Assessment, a tool that helps YouthZone gather information to provide recommendations for an individualized and comprehensive program to meet the needs of both the youth and their family. Colorado Mentoring Partnership

CMP Executive Director Brad Strong leads a discussion group

For non-profit organizations like YouthZone, mentoring is an important component for continued success.  Recently, YouthZone hosted a relatively new organization, Colorado Mentoring Partnership (CMP), and a number of representatives from non-profit entities throughout the Western Slope for a collaborative meeting to better understand the state of mentoring in Colorado.

On Tuesday, December 9, Coloradoans stepped up to the plate and donated to many of their favorite charities.  YouthZone received more than $2,000 this year on Colorado Gives Day!

We will soon be launching a new parenting community that will be designed as a support group and educational forum for parents with kids in one of our district level programs.  Stay Tuned for details!

Congratulations to YouthZone Court Case Manager Cameron Daniel, who recently received his certificate for Certified Addiction Counselor Level 1.

Representatives from numerous non-profits and public health agencies, including YouthZone Executive Director Lori Mueller, appeared before a joint session of Aspen City Council and Pitkin County Commissioners in early December to address trends affecting the mental and physical health of residents from Aspen to Parachute.
