Greetings FOA Families,

The FOA Spelling Bees are being organized a little differently this year. There are going to be three Bees, with one each for K-2nd, 3rd-5th and 6th-8th. We started yesterday with a Spelling Bee for middle school students who competed with appropriate, age-level words. The grade level winners were Alex Petchpradub (6th); Steven Escarcega (7th); and Alex Chagoyen (8th). The overall Middle School winner was Alex Chagoyen. Congratulations to all who participated, and a heart-felt handshake to our winners! It was a superb way to start the day.

Mid-day yesterday, all students, preschool through eighth, celebrated Thanksgiving with holiday feasts. For the first time, the elementary classes celebrated all together. Parents in all grades generously provided an abundance of food and then many were on hand to set up, serve and clean up. I am thankful for all of these helpful families!

Remember; please put students to bed early on Sunday as we begin testing first thing on Monday morning. Academic testing week for second through eighth grade continues through all of next week. If you are a parent who signed up to bring snacks for testing week don't forget to bring them in first thing in the morning. Our brains work so much better when our bodies are nourished with healthy snacks.

The Monrovia Holiday Parade is next Thursday, December 3. We are excited to be entry number 30 this year, which is considerably earlier than last year. That means we need to line up our flashy flatbed truck on East Maple, and our walkers with the school banner on West Chestnut. For any first-timers, please come dressed in holiday casual clothes and join us for cocoa and cookies at the truck location. We like having some people walk along with those carrying our school banner, so wear your step-counter and join the walkers if that works for you!

Happy Thanksgiving!
