The students of Foothill Oaks Academy put on a wonderful presentation last Friday in honor of African-American History Month. Each class was given a portion of a history timeline to present to the whole school, so that collectively they covered 1790-2014. We learned a lot while paying tribute to the generations of African-Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.
We want to thank the parents who helped facilitate our Pizza Lunch last Friday! A thank you also goes to Mr. Esparza who picked up the pizza for us. The students really enjoy this special lunch which they share with the whole school.
Last week's pep rally was a hoot! Teachers and students joined forces in competing teams to hula-hoop, dribble and shoot free-throws, resulting in one win per team. Great sportsmanship was displayed all around! Now that was just a foretaste of spirited things to come... March 16-20 we will have Spirit Week at FOA, and there will be a daily display of school enthusiasm demonstrated by students wearing mismatched clothes, green items, sports jerseys, twin outfits and Falcon t-shirts. Be watching for a complete set of instructions to come home on March 10 so you can join the fun!
Today was a big day for Read-a-thon winners! The Limo to Downtown Disney took 24 students and 4 adults to lunch at Rainforest Caf where they ate amidst the Amazonian jungle flora and fauna. They also were able to make the rounds of the Disney-themed shops, Lego store, old-fashioned candy shop and the huge World of Disney store. It was a thrilling reward for a job well-done!
