It was nice to have a three day weekend with our families.  We ended last week with poor air quality from the Colby Fire, but are thankful that the fire is contained and all families and staff that were evacuated are safely back in their homes.

Our Read-a-thon is off to a superb start.  In total we read 36,155 pages last week.  Some of our class winners read into the thousands of pages in just one week.  Today each of those top readers enjoyed a delightful root beer float to complete their day.  My greatest pleasure is to see our students walk around with books in their hands while traveling to snack, lunch or between classes.  We hope this powerful excitement will continue long after the Read-a-thon is over.

We have a poetry assembly this Friday at 8:15am.  The fifth grade will also recite their states and capitols.  Friday is Falcon t-shirt day; it is not a free dress day.  Students who choose not to wear an FOA t-shirt should wear a regular uniform.

Please take a moment to read the Annual Fund letter that was written in response to parent questions at last weeks FOAPA meeting.  Hopefully it addresses questions you may have with regard to the purpose of the fund and importance of your donation.  We have included a pledge card for your convenience.

        Have a great week,

                                         Mrs. Lopez
