Greetings!
There are two activities certain in life; taxes and death. Hopefully you beat the deadline to file your individual 1040 tax return because the other certainty is not near as much fun!! While we're on the topic of certainties, summer follows spring and before you know it fall will be here. Your spring cleaning should be almost finished and your business should be ready for increased demands for service that the much anticipated summer heat brings. We've filed our taxes and our spring cleaning is complete. We're planning for the Fall and a whole new RSM program as well as the 2014 ASTI in San Diego, CA. Our goal is to bring technical and business training to 22 regional cities in 2013. Watch the e-servicers for a list of cities and registration information. The RSM Program is a sure fired way to learn new strategies to increase your confidence, efficiencies and profits. Don't miss the 2013 fall program, save the date of a city near you.

Two USA Members Accepted into SBA Emerging Leaders Program
By Manny Ortega, Ortega's Appliance Service Today
| The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) launched its 2013 Emerging Leaders executive-level training initiative, formerly known as e200, in 27 cities and communities across the country. Since 2008 the initiative has trained more than 1,300 promising small business owners in underserved communities, and continues to expand its impact helping small businesses grow and create jobs. Exciting news! Two USA members, Jeff Dar in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Bob Wennerstrom in Bayfield, Colorado have been accepted into the program. The opportunity for anyone to join this great program and others is available to many. I recommend to anyone wanting to improve the way they run their business to look for educational programs in their area; many are free. more... |
High-Efficiency Front Load and Top Load Stinkology
By Samurai Repair Man, www.Appliantology.org
| We've all been on those calls where the customer complains of a musty or mildewy odor from their front loader or HE top loader washer. Many times, the problem is readily apparent because the customer is either using the wrong kind of detergent or just using too much. But lots of other things can cause odor problems in HE washers, too. Here are 9 common odor-makers that a professional appliantologist should check in HE washers along with ideas for items to keep on your service vehicle for add-on sales. Come with me now on a journey of Total Appliance Enlightenment™: more... |
Samsung Training in High Demand at ASTI 2013 Convention
By Nick Webert, Samsung Regional Training Mgr
| Samsung was a very large presence at the 2013 ASTI/USA Convention held in Orlando, FL on March 6th and 7th. The convention hosted about 600 technicians and business owners from all over North America. Samsung held training classes on both laundry and refrigeration products. These classes were taught in four hour sessions, twice each day. We are pleased to report that there was an enormous demand for Samsung product training and that more techs attended our training classes than the classes of any other manufacturer at the convention. Samsung trained about 200 techs in those four classes, making many sessions standing room only. more... |

Here are the first 5 (out of 10) common online marketing mistakes that, if you're making them, are damaging your reputation: more...

3 Ethical Ways to Boost Positive Online Reviews
By Elina Dizik, www.entrepreneur.com
| Online review sites, such as Yelp or TripAdvisor, can be a boon for your business. But you need to take an active role in generating and making the most of positive comments. While it isn't ethical to solicit good reviews, you can encourage customers to leave their feedback, whether positive or negative, on both your website and review sites. more... |
High-Tech Kitchens Talk to the Outside World
By Liam McCabe, Keith Barry and Tyler Wells Lynch, www.mobile-tech-today.com
| Manufacturers are building "smart" home appliances that can interact with their owners and each other, connect to smartphones, call a repairman when something is wrong, and even negotiate rates with the power company. A few Samsung refrigerators, such as the RF4289HARS (seen here), can keep track food in them and find recipes to match. more... |

#37 LG - Reconciling Your Claims & Avoiding Late Claim Submission
| At the February ASTI convention in Florida I promised the individuals that attended my class that I would follow-up with LG concerning late claim submission time frame.
(I posted a notice about the update on Chat-USA.)
Per a representative from the LG "Service Support" team, servicers have thirty-days to get their claims paid/credited in full from the date the repair is completed. That includes correcting any rejections and resubmitting your claim for any parts or labor that did not get paid on the original claim. LG will provide a servicer with one, maybe two, late claim authorizations if you miss the thirty-day deadline. more... |
