It's hard to believe the summer is near halfway over!  With the record setting heat waves we're experiencing we hope you'll make some time to relax and take a short break to enjoy a summer vacation with family and friends.

We know the heat is going keep you busy well into the fall and so will USA. We're turning up the heat on our  Regional Service Meeting program with events in 15 cities this fall. MINNEAPOLIS - Best Buy has confirmed to KARE 11 that about 650 employees in its Geek Squad division will be laid off nationwide.

 

Company officials said that the Geek Squad positions that service appliances and televisions in customer's homes will be eliminated.

 

"They are receiving severance packages and job placement assistance.," according to a statement from the Best Buy News Center.

 

The company said that they are not eliminating home service, just restructuring it to better serve customer's needs. "We know that clients will always need us to come to their homes, and increasingly their needs are more complex. That's why we're evolving in-home support for a more specific customer segment," the statement added.

 

If laid off workers are unable to find another position within Best Buy, their last day will be Aug. 1, the statement said.

Konnichiwa to all my Brethren in The Craft!  As professional Appliantologists, we've all been on service calls for a compressor that's failing to start and, instead, doing what we call the hum-click cha-cha. Typically in these situations, you find a Kentucky-fried compressor start relay.  These are usually great jobs: straight-forward, high-margin, and high degree of customer-perceived value; I call these kind of jobs "Skip n' Plucks."  But if you fall into parts-changing monkey mode and don't analyze the situation like a true Appliantologist, you could end up with a call back in a short time for the same problem.

I read an article awhile back about how we only use a small percentage of our brains on a daily basis. I have heard this before and try to use mine more than the average person. This particular article, however, explained that for the first time in history we are being inundated with information so fast that we are not as effective or creative as we were without so much information.

Experienced professionals instantly assist one another in an exchange of emails, and as a consequence, ultimately help the consumer.

Summer Grillin' At Its Best

Impress your guests by keeping that seasoned flavor on your grill's grates while also having a clean workspace that is food-residue free. Reward yourself for all of your hard work by testing out these great summer grilling recipes to kick off the summer on the right flavor.

 

Safety first. Inspect for any wear and tear of winter weather by looking for crackling or holes on the hose between the tank and the grill. If damage appears, replace immediately to make sure your outdoor living room is safe for your family and friends.

Tip #28 - Samsung Mileage Claims

A few months ago, Samsung changed the way they pay mileage. The new process requires a bit more work, especially if you are a service company that doesn't receive dispatched calls from Samsung. All mileage must be requested and approved through a Samsung SAW (Service Action Work). The process is time consuming but it's been my experience that it's monetarily worth it and I think you will too.

The process is as follow:

  1. If you don't already have a Samsung Service Order, you must create one on Samsung's website. 

a. Under the "Business" tab on Samsung's website, click Service Tracking and then Create New Service Order
