Spotlight on Langara College's Bridging Program
Langara's two year Post Degree Diploma in Nursing Practice in Canada program has been designed as an IEN bridging program. Our program is not limited to a 'competency gap' analysis and remediation; it is a comprehensive socialization into Canadian nursing practice and health care. Our students are internationally educated RN or BSN. The majority of the students are international students on study visas, coming mainly from the Philippines and India.
Unlike many other programs, students can start our program prior to applying for assessment for exam eligibility. Students are encouraged to apply after one year in our program as by then they will have completed courses on the Canadian health care system, and on cultural safety, both of which are often required by the regulatory body for exam eligibility. Soon, the program will be conducting research on current 'best practices' in IEN education, particularly the use of simulation.
