CASN Nurse Educator Interest Groups 

CASN has launched interest groups to provide our members with a new opportunity to meet and have regular discussions with educators from across Canada who share a common area of interest and expertise!

Nurse Educator Interest Groups:

• Nurse Practitioner Education
• Palliative and End-of-Life Care Education
• Internationally Educated Nurse Education
• Clinical Instructor
• Simulation
• Gerontology (NEW!)
• Mental Health (NEW!)

Activities for the interest groups will include:

• Knowledge translation and idea exchange
• Identification and discussion of cross cutting regional issues
• Sharing of resources pertaining to the specific area of interest
• Opportunities for collaboration on publications.

CASN will organize three virtual meetings per year, publish a newsletter twice annually for each of the special interest groups, and provide a platform for these groups to engage in discussions and activities promoting quality education in these areas.

Voici quelques-unes des activit�s des groupes d'int�r�ts :

• Transfert des connaissances et �change des id�es
• Identifier et aborder un ensemble de questions r�gionales � facettes multiples
• Partager des ressources relatives au domaine sp�cifique d'int�r�t
• Possibilit�s de collaborations sur des publications.

L'ACESI organisera trois r�unions virtuelles par ann�e, publiera un bulletin d'information semestriel pour chacun des groupes d'int�r�ts, et fournira une tribune visant � faire participer les groupes � des discussions �clair�es et des activit�s favorisant une formation de qualit� dans ces domaines.

Le programme de ma�trise en psychologie avec m�moire � l'Universit� Laval est r�activ�

 

La Facult� des sciences sociales et l'�cole de psychologie sont heureuses d'annoncer la r�activation de la ma�trise en psychologie avec m�moire. Les �tudiants peuvent d�poser une demande d'admission d�s maintenant et faire partie de la prochaine cohorte � l'automne 2014.

 

Pour �tre admissible, le candidat doit �tre titulaire d'un baccalaur�at en psychologie, dans une discipline li�e aux sciences du comportement, ou dans un domaine connexe en sciences fondamentales, de la sant� ou sociales (par ex. statistiques, sciences infirmi�res, travail social ou psycho�ducation), comprenant une formation de base � la recherche empirique.

The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Nurses Group (CHPC NG)

 

The CHPC NG is comprised of approximately 200 Canadian nurses who are interested in hospice palliative care and who work in diverse settings and roles across the country. The CHPC NG has a voluntary executive board of 9 members who actively lead the work of the group towards achieving its mission of "defining and advancing the unique body
of knowledge and the holistic approach used in hospice palliative care nursing; supporting hospice palliative care nursing research, education, practice and administration at a national level; promoting hospice palliative care networking opportunities to enhance communication and learning among Canadian nurses; influencing hospice palliative care public policy development at the provincial/territorial level and national level". The CHPC NG is administratively supported by the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association and is a member of CNA's Canadian Network of Nursing Specialities. NG members are therefore able to contribute to the hospice palliative care nursing certification examination, develop and maintain hospice palliative care nursing standards as well as have a voice in broader nursing issues. The CHPC NG executive would like to inform Schools of Nursing faculty that the NG can act as an agency for undergraduate and graduate nursing students to do a practicum in such courses as community/global health, leadership, professional practice or similar courses. To date the University of Victoria and Dalhousie University have both enabled students to participate in learning activities within the NG. If you or any of your students are interested in learning more about how to become involved in the NG or how to do a practicum with the NG please contact our Communication Coordinator, Brenda Hearson (bhearson@virtualhospice.ca).
