Benefit Concert
Given by Club Member

Steve Meckfessel and Beth Wood
Sunday, March 13, 7pm
Freight and Salvage, Berkeley, CA

Take a listen to "Jimmie and Marco", written and live-recorded in a week for The Acoustic Guitar Project:

 Hi friends,

On Sunday, March 13th, I will be playing a show at the legendary Freight and Salvage in downtown Berkeley, with my good friend and national touring singer-songwriter, Beth Wood. This is Beth's first time at Freight and Salvage,
and I lay odds that we'll have an amazing evening together!

Freight and Salvage is one of the premier venues in the country...a beautiful listening room which has recently hosted Shawn Colvin, Joan Armatrading, David Crosby, Judy Collins, Richard Thompson and many, many more.

This show will be a benefit for several local non-profits (details to follow).
I look forward to seeing you (and your friends!) at the show for a great night of music and to support these worthy organizations.
Freight and Salvage, Sunday, March 13th, 7pm, doors open at 6pm. Tickets available at http://www.thefreight.org/
or at the door, 2020 Addison Street, Berkeley, CA

STEVE MECKFESSEL

Steve's music is "his own blend of urban folk with bits of blues and jazz." Sometimes funny, other times moving, his songs tell stories that were just waiting to be told. He wrote his first song growing up In Sacramento, then returned to writing and performing his own material fifteen years ago.
His first CD, Twice, was featured on the hit TV show "JAG". His next release,
"Under Beautiful Skies"  received world-wide radio play and enthusiastic
reviews-in the words of one critic
"The folk world has just been handed some of the best music it will ever hear." Steve recently played the Sisters Folk Festival in Sisters, Oregon where the local music critic selected Steve as one of his two favorite artists in a star-studded line-up of 40+ acts (including several Grammy award winners) and named Steve his "surprise artist of the festival".  Steve was recently selected by the Acoustic Guitar Project ("one guitar, one week, one song") to write and
live-record a song in a week on a guitar built for the project. The resulting song, "Jimmie and Marco," is creating a buzz among early listeners.

BETH WOOD

Beth Wood is a modern-day troubadour and believer in the power of song.
Her exceptional musicianship, crafty songwriting and commanding stage presence have been winning over audiences across the country. Beth's music is soulful, organic, intelligent and high-energy-an invitation to joy. She has been featured on OPB's "Artbeat" and on "Troubador TX" a nationally syndicated series airing in 40 million US households. Beth has been a three-time featured artist on Cayamo, a Caribbean songwriters' cruise, along with Lyle Lovett, Shawn Colvin, John Prine, Patti Griffin, Emmy Lou Harris, Richard Thompson and many more.

2016 Cruise In/Out Calendar
Version 2.0

The 2016 Cruising Season is officially underway and we are all looking forward to a great 2016. Please note that there is a date change for the October cruise out to the Marin Yacht Club.

Cruise Captains Hal & Laurie Lynam are also working on some additional "options" for EYC cruisers for this year's Delta Daze. There will be additional information forthcoming in a dedicated email.

The cruise-ins/outs are a lot of fun so plan on joining your fellow EYC members for one or more of the 2016 planned cruising destinations.

March 12 - 13:  Coyote Point Yacht Club (San Mateo) - Kathryn & Charles Hodgkins with Hal and Laurie Lynam. Detail planning is in process, details to follow; if you would like additional info re. CPYC, visit their website at

April 16 - 17: South Beach Harbor (San Francisco) - Mark and Karen Brunelle. South Beach is a regular stop on the EYC cruising calendar and Mark and Karen are San Francisco experts. Detail planning is in process, for additional info, visit

May 20 - 22:  Bencia Yacht Club (Benicia) - Chuck and Edie Hero. Chuck & Edie will be leading this event for the 3rd year in a row!! Downtown Benicia is walking distance from the marina and this is always a fun event. Detail planning is in process, for additional info, visit

June 11 - 12: Golden Gate Yacht Club (San Francisco) - Charlie Thome. It has been some time since EYC has cruised out to GGYC so this should be a great event. Detail planning is in process, for additional info, visit

July 4: Cruise In To EYC - Fourth of July (No Host) Plan on joining your fellow EYC members for this annual cruise in to our club. There will be a plethora of events for young and old and entertainment as well. Detail planning is in process.

Aug 7 - 13 Delta Daze (Potato Slew in the Delta) - Neil & Carol Weinberg with Hal and Laurie Lynam. Perhaps the most laid back cruise out of the year. Anchorage is close to Willow Berm Marina and this is one of the most popular destinations year-after-year.

Sept 2 - 5 Half Moon Bay (& Half Moon Bay Yacht Club) - Ed Lecco & Bill Nork. Half Moon Bay is another regular destination for EYC members and it's always a blast. The Yacht Club typically has a number of events scheduled for the weekend and the EYC folks are always invited to participate. For additional info, visit www.hmbyc.org.

Sept 3 - 9 San Juan Island Cruise Out (Bellingham, WA) - David Dury. The planning is well underway with six yachts currently chartered (20+ EYC Members) and another three currently being considered. For additional information regarding this cruise, please email David at

Oct 15 - 16:  Marin Yacht Club Cruise - (San Rafael)- Jim & Jenn Vickers. Marin Yacht Club was on the 2015 calendar and they received rave reviews; little surprise that we will be visiting them again this year. For additional info, please visit www.marinyachtclub.com.

Nov. ?????? Nothing Scheduled, Depends on Weather Forecasts

You may note that, in addition to the destinations shown above, there will likely be several "flash cruises" announced from time-to-time. Look for more information in future Signal Flag newsletters.

If you would like to be added to the 2016 Cruising Fleet email list, send an email with your contact info to Hal Lynam (Hal and Laurie Lynam are the Cruise Captains for 2016). Hal's email address:  Better yet, if you are interested in participating, have a suggested destination, or are interested in leading a cruise, make sure you let Hal know. The Cruising Calendar is a fluid document and we are always eager to add additional destinations.
