We need your support. Leukemia Cup RegattaSM is a series of sailing events that combines the joy of boating with the important task of raising money to cure cancer.  These events are held all over
North America.
On October 18th  we'll celebrate the tenth year for the Bay Area's Leukemia Cup. Two of our members have entered  their boats to sail and raise money for the cause. You can help by making a donation to either of them or make a donation to the
Encinal Yacht Club donation page.
We hope that, with your generosity, we can raise $10,000 for this cause.
Here are the links where you can make a
tax deductible donation:

Help us keep a Tradition alive....
and have some fun too.

The Annual Lighted Yacht Parade is Saturday, December 5th. We are looking for EYC members to help on the Lighted Yacht Parade Committee so the tradition continues.

For years up until 2003, the parade was sponsored by the Port of Oakland and the management of Jack London Square. When they opted out, EYC Commodore Terri Moore convinced the board that the club should take over sponsorship as the event was popular with the public, good PR for Encinal, and good business for our restaurant and bar as the club is packed for the event.   The Parade also supports two worthwhile charities: the Oakland Firefighters "Random Acts of Kindness "program and the Alameda County Foodbank. Oakland Yacht Club agreed to help and they share the duties in presenting the event.

SO HOW CAN YOU HELP?

--Join the committee! We have a great committee comprised of members of both yacht clubs and many other interested people including the Marketing Director of JLS, "Visit Oakland" and we have the support of the Mayor of Alameda.
But we need more members from EYC.

We need help with printing, mailing, preparing gift bags, registering entrants, distributing posters, graphic design, contacting merchants for possible gift certificates and creative thinkers for new ideas.

--Be a SPONSOR by making a cash donation or by having your company be a sponsor.

--Donate an item of value or a restaurant gift certificate. These items are essential for running the parade and donating to
our charities.

--Enter your boat in the parade. The theme is "Deck The Hulls"and the parade will be held this year on December 5th, 2015.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the committee or being a sponsor; please call or email me (Sam Benson) or Carol Blackburn for more information. We have a lot of fun and it is a very important charity event.

Email Carol Blackburn or me for more information to get involved in any of the areas mentioned above.
You can also call me directly at   925-708-1899

We are building a new website, please take a look.

and we are currently putting all of the past photos on the site.

The Lighted Yacht Parade is a tremendous and very important event for these two wonderful charities and it's also a lot of fun for the boaters and spectators on both sides of the Estuary.

Thank you very much,

Sam Benson
