Kickoff 5:30 PM
NEW YORK JETS
at the
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
This past Monday, EYC members, Sea Ray Club members and a couple of Oakland Yacht Club members joined together to help launch the 2015 season of Monday Night Football. In the early game, the Atlanta Falcons held on to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 26 to 24. In the later game, the San Francisco 49ers cruised (sort of) to a victory over the Minnesota Vikings 20 to 3. Approximately 30 folks in all watched the game(s) and there were plenty of appetizers for all to share.
This week the "normal" programming schedule begins so come on over and join fellow EYC members for the JETS vs. COLTS game with the kickoff scheduled for 5:30 PM. EYC member Cathy Erbland will be preparing Italian Sausage Sandwiches and an Italian Chopped Salad for the attendees and the entre is usually served around half time (~7:00 PM).
For our newer members who may not be familiar with the history of the EYC/MNF format but who may be interested in hosting a specific game, the basic format is that once you signup as host for a specific game (there will be a signup sheet at the bar) you are then "in charge" and responsible for providing the entre for that particular week. This entre' can be anything that the host wishes to provide and may range from a simple chili dish to a full blown Canadian Thanksgiving dinner.
On most Mondays, non-host members and guests contribute snacks and assorted munchies as the main entre is usually brought out at half time. (The EYC kitchen is available.) A collection is taken from all Monday Night Football attendees and the proceeds may go to the host to cover out of pocket costs and/or the monies may be redirected to Junior Sailing, the EYC General Fund, etc.
The bar IS open for MNF and is manned by our regular bartenders on a volunteer basis. Really, they volunteer for this.
EYC Monday Night Football is a great way to meet other members, have fun and try out a new dish. There will be additional information in future Signal Flag issues.
See you all on Monday!
