 | | | Greetings !
 | |
Even though students packed up and left campus for Spring Break, we were hard at work planning all sorts of events for Spring Term - the Chicago Cubs Alumni Event, Cornerstone Week, the Inauguration of the College's Tenth President and Commencement... just to name a few! Be sure to keep checking the Alumni Calendar for the most updated events. Despite chilly temps, we're also looking forward to the summer and all of the fun golf outings scheduled. Campus sure has been a bustling, busy place this past month, too! We hosted the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships, along with the Men's Basketball Team's second appearance in the Sweet Sixteen and the sectional competition for the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge.   Phew! It sure has been busy, but not a minute goes by where we don't realize just how special a place North Central is - and a large part of that is due to you, our wonderful, generous alumni who have continued to make North Central "the school we love!"   We hope to see you on campus soon!   As always, it sure is an exciting time to be a Cardinal!    With Cardinal Pride,
Adrian Aldrich '02 Director of Alumni Relations  |
 | Spring Break Trips
 | | As North Central College took its week-long break between winter and spring terms, more than 70 students, faculty and staff members traveled nationwide on different service and academic trips. Five Habitat for Humanity trips were planned, along with the Office of Ministry and Service coordinating trips to Alabama, Michigan and Tennessee, and two student-athlete organized trips to South Carolina and Florida. Another trip, organized by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, headed to Texas along the Mexican border to help build homes for low-income communities.   ...and these are only a few of the trips this break! | NCAA Division III Basketball Championships
 | | On Saturday March 23, North Central College's men's basketball team closed out the most successful season in the program's 111-year history with a 52-44 loss to Amherst College in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Championship.   "Obviously, we're disappointed," said North Central head coach Todd Raridon. "I'm proud of them for getting us here. You never know if you'll get this chance again. I was here (with Nebraska Wesleyan University) in 1997, and this is the first time I've been back. You always try to take advantage of what's in front of you, and I couldn't be prouder of this group."

In addition to its new school record for victories, North Central finishes the season with school records for free throws made (539) and attempted (814). Senior Derek Raridon has established a new career record at North Central with 111 games played and Vince Kmiec finishes with a single-season school record of 67 steals. Thank you to the alumni, parents and friends of the Men's Basketball program who made the trip out to Salem! Your support played an integral role in the team's success during this historic season . |
