Surf Air adds Palm Springs to route map -- Members-only airline Surf Air has added Bermuda Dunes Airport in Palm Springs as a new destination from Burbank Bob Hope Airport. The Santa Monica startup will offer daily nonstop flights between Burbank and Palm Spring starting Nov. 5. CBRE hired to sell airport parcel -- The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority unanimously authorized the commercial real estate brokerage CBRE Group Inc. to proceed with the efforts to sell the "B6" property, also known as the "Opportunity" property, near Bob Hope Airport. The airfield owns the roughly 58-acre parcel in trust, but under a trust agreement between the airport authority and the city of Burbank, it must begin trying to sell the property to a third party not related to either the city or the airport, after the expiration of a 10-year "tolling period" that ended in March. San Diego company is top bidder for $15M airport solar array -- Borrego Solar Systems Inc. of San Diego came out on top in a competition among contractors to design, build and operate a solar array at Sacramento International Airport. Some 14 solar companies responded to a request for proposals in the fall from Sacramento County to provide solar power at the airport at no cost to the county, which operates the airport. No criminal charges in LAX car seat assault case -- Olivier Martinez has dodged a bullet ... he will NOT be criminally prosecuted for slamming a baby car seat into an airport employee at LAX. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, the L.A. City Attorney will conduct an office hearing where Martinez and the LAX employee will tell their sides, and then Halle Berry's husband will probably get a warning and the case will be closed. The hearing officer could make anger management part of the deal. TMZ

DFW Airport moving into new headquarters building -- It's moving month for the staff of Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. DFW's administrative offices are relocating to a new energy-efficient headquarters that will anchor the airport's Southgate Plaza development. The three-story, 154,000-square-foot building recently opened, and the airport board held its first monthly meeting at the facility two weeks ago. "We've been able to create a much more open environment, so you'll see less offices," Sean Donohue, the airport's chief executive, said about the new headquarters. St. Pete-Clearwater Airport all in with Allegiant for better or worse -- If the Tampa Bay area's secondary commercial airport breaks all passenger records this year, as expected, the reason for that success will lie almost entirely with a single carrier, Allegiant Air. Virgin America named top U.S. carrier for 3rd year in a row -- Virgin America was named the top U.S. airline for the third consecutive year in the annual Airline Quality Rating (AQR) report. JetBlue traffic in March rises 9.2% -- JetBlue Airways Corp said its traffic in March increased 9.2 percent to 3.54 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPM, from 3.24 billion RPM last year. The airlines said its capacity, or available seat miles ("ASM"), in March rose 6.2 percent to 4.06 billion ASM From 3.82 billion ASM a year ago. Southwest working with AT&T, Global Eagle on IFEC enhancements -- Southwest Airlines is working with AT&T Mobility Solutions Services and its inflight entertainment and connectivity partner, Global Eagle Entertainment, to enhance its IFEC offering, and is prepping to reveal more details about its efforts at next week's Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg. Some American Airlines' flight attendants disagree with their union leader on the Nicole Kidman-Etihad Airways brouhaha -- It recently came to my attention that at least some of American Airlines Group (American and US Airways) flight attendants do not agree with their union president's slamming of Nicole Kidman for appearing in new advertisements for Etihad Airways. Laura Glading, president of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, two weeks ago criticized Etihad Airways and other airlines based in the United Arab Emirates for their "discriminatory labor practices and deplorable treatment of female employees." I'm not sure this is a big deal, especially since American still has well over 100 of them, but on Monday, NBC Nightly News featured the MD-80 in its broadcast. The story follows the final flight on Sunday, March 1 of N595AA, a 23-year-old MD-80. Florida governor drops in to lure away California businesses -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott is in California this week trying to grab business from West Coast ports, high-tech companies and tourism. It's a political throw-down that has Gov. Jerry Brown's office suggesting that Scott is poaching. Hidden cameras reveal airport workers stealing from luggage -- Inside a plane at Miami International Airport, baggage handlers are going on a shopping spree with passengers' bags. What they don't know is that they are being recorded on a hidden camera. The Miami-Dade Police Department set up the camera as part of an ongoing police investigation into luggage thefts by the very airport workers who are supposed to get bags safely onto planes. Former TSA agent sentenced to jail for bathroom recording -- A former Transportation Security Administration agent has been sentenced to six months in jail for recording a female co-worker in the bathroom, CNN reports. The former agent, 33-year-old Daniel Boykin, was sentenced after pleading guilty to unlawful photography, aggravated burglary and violation of the computer act, according to the report. Outside contractors can be hired if L.A. sanitation workers strike -- With city workers threatening to go on strike, Los Angeles public works commissioners agreed Monday to give city officials the authority to hire outside contractors to pick up solid waste and perform other critical jobs if necessary. Proposal to cap most LA parking tickets at $23, part of slew of recommendations -- A parking reform group tapped by the Mayor's office has released a series of recommendations. One suggestion is to start most parking tickets at $23 and gradually raise the fines on subsequently offenses within a year. In addition, the proposal also calls for the city to embrace advanced technology -- smart parking meters, the ability for drivers feed meters with their smartphones -- to address parking issues.
