Do you want to reduce your monthly heating and electricity bills? Would you like to test-drive the newest 
fuel-efficient vehicles? Are you looking to take advantage of the latest energy incentives for homeowners?

 

Join us on URI's Kingston Campus for the first Home Energy School! You'll learn the fundamentals of 
energy conservation and efficiency, and walk away with useful tools to help you save energy and money at 
home and on the road.

WHAT WE'LL DO
SESSION I: Conservation and Efficiency at Home                                                  9:00-10:15 a.m.
Challenge yourself to start saving energy at home in new ways! This session will provide information on the latest in lighting, refrigeration and insulation technology, the art of interpreting a home energy bill, National Grid's free EnergyWise program, and other efficiency incentives to make your home an efficient one!
SESSION II: Alternative Fuel Vehicles: Why Make the Switch?                        10:30-11:45 p.m.
Learn about the fuel and technologies that can help you save money getting from 'point A' to 'point B'. What incentives will help you make the switch to an alternative fuel vehicle? We will explore the latest in the alternative transportation energy field, with an emphasis on domestically-sourced, clean-burning renewable fuel resources.
SESSION III: Breakouts*                                                                                                 12:45-2:30 p.m.
A. Green Building Tour - Center for Biotechnology & Life Sciences
Take a guided tour of one of the only LEED Gold-certified laboratory research facilities in the Northeast. This state-of-the-art facility was built with recycled and locally-made materials and features the use of natural lighting techniques, controlled heating and cooling, and more!

B. Ride and Drive - Parking Lot
Participate in the free ride-and-drive for the oppotunity to get behind the wheel of an electric car, courtesy of Premier Auto Group!  Experience the thrill of electric drive, with 100% of the motor's torque applied instantly to silent, smooth acceleration.
 
C. FuelEconomy.gov - Woodward Computer Lab
Compare vehicles side-by-side and determine which is best suited for you and your lifestyle! How does your current vehicle match up? In this session, the Ocean State Clean Cities Coalition Coordinator will teach us to use the US Department of Energy's comprehensive fuel economy information site to find out!

*Attendees will spend 30 minutes in each breakout (A, B and C).
