I am writing to you this morning from the PCUSA GA in Detroit. Tomorrow the Assembly will open. Today is a day to meet and greet friends new and old and a number of orientations will take place for commissioners and advisory delegates, committee leaders, and others. 

The PPL Booth (#203) is set up and ready to open at 10:00 am this morning. Because of the flurry of preparations in the PPL office in the last few weeks, this email will be shorter than most, but I did not want to let Father's Day go by without reminding you of the importance Father's play in the protection and provision of tiny vulnerable lives waiting to be born. My middle son and his wife are anticipating the birth of their baby boy in the next few weeks, but they will not become parents on the day of his birth--they are parents now and already doing the work of preparing, protecting, and providing for a tiny life that they have not yet seen except by ultrasound. He is already a huge part of our lives and we have made significant changes in preparation for our little grandson's birth. It makes the work of PPL so much more tangible and real to me as I and the PPL team prepare to defend those at beginning and end of life at this Assembly. 

On Wednesday, I will leave Detroit and head to Knoxville to be with those life defenders in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. I hope to see many of our readers over the next few days!

 

Please pray for the 20 members of our PPL GA team giving time and resources to be here as a witness in Detroit this week. They will give testimony, assist commissioners, staff our exhibit booth and pass out newsletters on the street. Pray also for the smaller but vital team helping in Knoxville with PPL's exhibit table there.
