Greetings!
Our summers seem to be hotter and shorter than ever. School will be back in session before we know it. Hope you have had an opportunity to hit the beach or your favorite place.
In extreme temperatures pay more attention to your vehicle. Keep an eye on the temperature gauge so your vehicle does not overheat. A slight coolant leak can become a big problem. Also, a weak battery will die quickly in this heat. If your vehicle hesitates any at all when starting, have your battery checked. Checking batteries and coolant protection level are two of over thirty items checked on the Mini Service.
I received several comments on the June article "Six Ways to Calm Your Commute". There is a seventh way - retire...
We are proud to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. Thank you to our loyal customers who have been with us all these years.
If you or your family need assistance please let us know. Remember we are here for you.
Drive Safely,
Sherry Richardson
P.S. Remember to schedule a mini service prior to your next road trip.

One Third of Americans Admit to Driving an Unsafe Car
More than one third of Americans admit their car may not be safe enough to drive on the road, according to a new survey conducted by CouponCodes4u.com.
Across the country 2,724 Americans were polled. The survey found that of the 72 percent of respondents who said they owned a car, 35 percent said their car was not safe enough to drive on the road. An additional 18 percent admitted they were unsure and 47 percent of drivers said they were certain their car was fit for driving.
Respondents admitted their vehicle was unsafe because
- Could not afford car repairs
- Damage from a previous accident make it unsafe
- Owned an old car
Only 37 percent said they were worried about their vehicle causing an accident.
Unsafe vehicles can and do cause accidents. Vehicles that will not stop or if they die while driving in traffic are two scenarios which can cause an accident.
Brakes and tires are two important components which should be checked regularly to ensure your vehicle is safe to drive. Even an old car can be safe and reliable if taken care of on a regular basis. If you can not afford car repairs, park the vehicle until it is safe to drive.

Supreme Court Denies AFPM E15 Challenge
The Supreme Court decided not to consider the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) challenge of the Environmental Protection Agency's E15 waivers.
The EPA decision previously authorized a 50 percent increase in the amount of ethanol in gasoline for newer-model year motor vehicles.
The AFPM challenged the EPA's decision in April, arguing that E15 has been shown to cause engine damage in motor vehicles. The D.C. Circuit Court, which first considered the AFPM's case, ruled that the refining industry lacked standing to challenge EPA's decision.
The AFPM petitioned the Supreme Court to reconsider the district court's ruling, and continues to assert that the EPA waivers overstepped its authority under the Clean Air Act.
As reported in the December, 2012 issue of Maintenance Matters, the American Automobile Association, AAA also asked the EPA to suspend sales of E15 gasoline because a survey of its members found that 95 percent of them do not know what it is and could unknowingly damage their cars as a result. Although the E15 can be used in cars and light trucks from the 2001 model year and later, the engine could be damaged by the corrosive ethanol even though EPA says it is OK to use.
Only flex-fuel vehicles designed to burn fuel blends that contain up to 85 percent ethanol are specifically approved by their manufacturers to use E15. Many automakers including Toyota have already said that their warranties will not cover E15 related damage. |

Apple Unveils In-Car Infotainment
Apple Inc. recently announced iOS in the Car, a new platform that mirrors your iPhone via the dashboard screen. The platform would allow users to make phone calls, play music, display Apple Maps and receive iMessages, either by using the car's controls or by giving voice commands to Siri through the sound system.
Apple says that 95 percent of vehicles sold today are already able to work directly with iOS devices for music and playback control.
Starting in 2014, automakers that will offer iOS in the Car include Acura, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Kia, Opel, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Volvo. The announcement was made during Apple's 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference.
